Broken down and very scared

  • Little miss T - I too am in the North East, and you are exactly the same age as my little sister who is married and living with her husband. Although thankfully he sounds nothing like your hubby

Anyway I just wanted to say if you were my little sister I would track him down myself and give him a piece of my mind (and possibly a sizeable coating of my shoe leather). And believe me if someone walked out on my baby sis, landed her in loads of debt and stole her things you would see the fallout from all regions outside the North East.!!!

Glad your family are helping you and you've been given some excellent advice here. Stay strong - you're better than him, do not let him get the better of you. Stay strong - us North East girls are tough cookies x x

Is it worth getting in touch with people like experian and equifax to check to see if he has any financial link to you - and to make sure he's not used your name to get any other debts that he's not told you about? Not to scare you but better to be safe than sorry.

Chin up chick - you're only as strong as the coffee you drink, the hairspray you use and the friends that you have x x

And you have a lot of support right here

Wow - just been reading this thread - it's truly awful the way you have been treated Miss T. Big hugs to you.

I can't really offer any more advice - you've already received some excellent information from the good folk here.

I hope you find your feet again soon - and I agree that you are definitely better off without him - he doesn't sound like a kind or caring person at all!

Take care and keep your chin up! :)
My posts are my own opinions based on my experiences and info gathered from sites such as this.
They are not a substitute for professional financial advice - but you knew that already didn't you? ;)

Miss T - big hugs- I can't add anything else to this but if I could somehow magic my cats down for a special "pick-me-up" hug special I would!!!!

  • The car was on finance in his name so it is nothing to do with me. All of the bills are in my name, but he has his own debts, and lots of them, that are not related to me.

That would seem like the logical thing to do, but it's not that easy. He transferred the money into his sole account and that can only be done over the phone.

Since he transferred it, he has withdrawn it all anyway so I can't get any of it back.

That's a shame, it would have served him right. You sound like you are doing great, given the circumstances. Keep fighting and make sure everyone knows what a total !!!!!! he is.

Once you have the joint account closed, contact Experian and ask for a notice of disassociation. That means his debts no longer wreck your credit rating.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • New account is open so I will withdraw all of the money that is in there today and get joint account closed.

Also had a bit of a breakthrough.. Husband has agreed to see me today, to talk about money and things, so I might even get my laptop back

    Will keep you posted xx

  • wow. No way i could read and run - i'm amazed that you seem to have stayed so level headed about all of this? you have a good head on your shoulders and a great support network. Keep strong, and remember what goes around comes around. He'll get his eventually, and IMO you're a lot better off without him. Also, just to say, I read that because you pay your rent in advance you dont need to pay another months if your tenancy is exdiring end of october. Have you spoken directly to your landlord? Because if they understood the situation they may waive the months notice. We had to do that a few years ago when because of a car accident taking my OH out of work we just couldnt afford to stay where we were. It may be worth asking? it sounds like he's a cunning and manipulative so and so, at least he cant get back into your flat. good luck and keep strong!
