Are they also doing a petition to stop it being taken away after 28 days for an adult?Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

I don't think so as they act for children - but it is certainly something that needs looking into.0

If a child (or adult) is in hospital, their care needs are already addressed by the state. Therefore I see no need to pay DLA, which is also for care needs.Gone ... or have I?0

Not signing either there are plenty of charities to help out with hospital stays for families of disabled children on top of any DLA. The rules for adults are horrific and the charity help is non existant.Barclaycard 3800

DLA is for care needs which would not be appropriate if a child/adult is in hospital for a lengthy stay.
I dont see how you can campaign to keep it going if the needs are not there, make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Thankfully my 8 year old son, who has had many hospital admissions, has never needed to be in hospital for this length of time.
However, apart from the the one occasion when he was in Intensive Care, I always carry out approx 90% of his care needs - I feed him, change him, give him his oral drugs (his daily meds, plus whatever the hospital have prescribed), etc. I also always stay overnight with him.
I know that there are many other parents who do exactly the same for their children.
(Plus its not just the DLA that's stopped, they also suspend the parents Carers Allowance)
So thank you rbbadger for posting the link.0 -

Isn't this what the hospital do? When I was in hospital, I was given medication by the staff.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

That is your choice. The fact is that the care your child needs could be provided by the hospital. I am sure you are aware of the costs of hospital care, why should the govt duplicate this money when it is not essential?Gone ... or have I?0 -

Its called being a parent. Having healthy children does not mean I am not spending all my time doing things for them.Barclaycard 3800

The care is provided in an NHS hospital???????!!!!!!!!! Mmm oh is that what they were doing when a young disabled man got his head stuck between the bars of a hospital bed and suffocated. I cannot believe the attitude of people towards carers in this country. Its absolutely disgusting. It is time for direct action from carers cos thats the only way things will change!0
