Whatever happened to compassion, sympathy and empathy? What a sad world we live in! Is it so hard to show a little kindness now and again to people who are in similar circumstances? I thought this board would be supportive, sadly not.
Well I'll let you get on with ripping others to bits. need to shop, so have a nice day. Oh and, happy trolling.0 -
If the Hospital isn't giving suitable care complain. If people don't complain things don't change. Just accepting it doesn't help anyone.
trust me , we did complain!to the hospital, to social services, to our MP. all it resulted in was velied threats. 'the family obviously isnt accepting the situation, and it may be worth considering if BOTH boys need to be in temporary foster care'!!
for the sake of my grandson and his elder brother, we stayed at the hospotal constavtly and took him home as soon as possible!0 -

Disgraceful. Hopefully this situation is a rare occurrence.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

People, please stop feeding the nasty little Trolls on this thread. As soon as you type the letters DLA, CA etc they appear like flies round s**t. When they ask for more information before they can give you the benefit of there negative opinions and nasty comments, please don't oblige them. Don't encourage the nasty little blighters and they may find a different bridge to lurk under.
I just feel so sorry for all the people who post on here looking for genuine help and support, and getting preyed on by people who have nothing nice or helpful to impart.
Now you nasty, begrudging, harpies here is an old but true saying. What goes around, comes around.
From this little witch I would like to add. SO MOTE IT BE!!
Pathetic!
Disagreeing with someone does not make them a troll.
I have just read this thread and do think that the length of time should not be extended. That's just a difference of opinion.
Obviously the troll label falls in your own lap.0 -
Isn't this what the hospital do? When I was in hospital, I was given medication by the staff.
No not if a parent is there to provide the care. My daughter was in hospital 30 yr ago (an 11 wk old baby) and I provided most of her care. Including, removing the plaster cap holding a drip in her head.Beth0 -
Oh I'm sorry, I didn't realise that being a disabled adult who was previously a disabled child in hospital who had their DLA suspended during their hospital stay I would have no idea what this thread was about or the issues sorrounding the topic were.0

I thought that's what the doctors and nurses did? My drip was removed by the nurses and they changed my dressings. (because I was bleeding before my operation. It was also bank holiday; so no district nurses over the weekend after my operation)Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

I thought this thread was about raising awareness of a charity fighting for the rights of disabled ppl and their carers. Not a discussion about who does or doesn't provide care.
Disability Living Allowance - eligibility : Directgov - Disabled ...
You can get Disability Living Allowance for your care needs even if no one is actually giving you the care you need, even if you live alone. ... www.direct.gov.uk/en/disabledpeople/.../dg_10011816 - Cached - Similar
It seems, even if no one actually provides the care be it, Hospital, Parent or Carer, an individual should still qualify for DLA based on care need, not what the care provider does or doesn't do.
Personally I can see both sides of the argument however, disabled child or adult still need input from their carer regardless of how long they've been in hospital.
Parents need to visit children, bills still need to be paid, places at schools/respite need to be maintained, additional carers need to be retained and a home needs to be maintained for when the disabled child/adult returns home possibly with even greater care needs.Beth0 -

I suppose it depends on the level of involvement a parent/carer wants to have. I helped hold her during distressing hospital tests. Also, cared for her 17 yrs on when she badly burnt both her feet. The district nurses taught me how to change the dressings and clean the wounds so she would be more comfortable.
Most nursing staff I've came into contact with welcome parent/carer involvement, as it takes some of the stress away from them, and, how many times have we seen headline news where a patient has died in hospital due to lack of care.
Just last week a friend showered and dressed her mother as hospital staff didn't have time and she'll lose her DLA if she's in hospital another couple of weeks.Beth0
