Is your heating ON or OFF?

Heating has finally gone on this morning. Excuse is that I want to check it's all working ok now rather than waiting until it's freezing & then finding a problem & gas engineer being booked up...
.... but it's nice to feel warm!!!!0 -
What a difference a day makes I now have a cardigan on indoors as opposed to just a t-shirt like yesterday. Does feel a lot colder today. I sat watching the TV with my hot water bottle last night! DH said he wasnt cold so it might just be me anyway as I do find I get cold in the evening.
Gloves for the kids this morning and blanket on DS in the buggy.
Lovely sunshine through the windows this morning so might act like a cat and sit in the sunshine2 adults and 3 children DD (14), DD (12) & DS (10) :smileyhea and 2 mental beagles.

I've still not put the heating on..............................but that's because I'm waiting for British Gas to service and check my boiler. I've just put £216 on my credit card to have a BG contract for one year. Just wish they would hurry up and come look at boiler, the water pressure is really low and needs tweaking to get going again.
So BG are holding onto my money whilst I wait for them to check boiler, could be up to three weeks! Bah humbug, and my house is freezing. It's a tiny Victorian 2 bed terrace and feels cold even in summer. I have just dug out my hot water bottle and will put that under the blanket I have on the sofa, where I huddle all day asI have pleurisy:eek:KEEP CALM AND keep taking the tablets :cool2:0 -
The heating came on once when we had a really cold day, but apart from that it has remained off, I had a look and DH has turned the temp down again so that would explain the lack of heating. We have the throws out for the back of the sofa (to huddle under when watching TV) and on the beds, plus all jumpers, fleecy tops and so on have been dug out of hiding.
Regarding the low water pressure, if it is a combi / condensing boiler you can usually adjust the pressure by letting more water into the system using an isolator valve usually located on the loop at the bottom of the boiler, just take a screw driver or a 50p and turn the isolator on, water the gauge until pressure goes to where it needs to be on dial then turn off (about 1.4 turn usually) then you have to bleed the system usually so turn on all radiators etc and get it hot, then on each rad let the air out the top using the valve. Might stop you freezing in the interim!Start info Dec11

I did thanks! Might have to have another nap this afternoon, had a dreadful night and think I only got a few hours of sleep.
I felt a lot warmer yesterday. Went and had a look round a charity shop and ended up offering to volunteer once a week. It was lovely and cosy in there, so that's one day a week I won't need any heating on at home in the daytime!
I was absolutely boiling hot last night as I did a Zumba class! Had to open the window when I got home, poor DH was probably freezing! :eek:missmoneysave wrote: »Off here.Had it on a few times on particularly cold days but havent felt the need to have it on regularly yet. Although.....
I came back from holiday yesterday and my heating was on FULL! My mum had been down to check on the house and had accidentally turned the switch to timer (which we never use-only manual) and my heating had been on for 10 hours a day whilst no one had been in! I've just about got over the shock and my poor mum feels terrible bless her
Oh no! Oh dear, your poor mum!snowleopard61 wrote: »This made me smile. Good to know the girls of Durham City haven't changed in the nearly 30 years since I lived there!
Not that it's much indication of the temperature, as they were the same even in ice and snow!
I remember at uni waiting for a taxi home on a night out and it was snowing and we were just wearing little tops and skirts! Although I have to say if I go out on the town nowadays I don't bother taking a coat, I know the JD will keep me warm!:rotfl:
Anyway, sorry just a bit off topic there. My heating is still off! Thinking of having a jacket potato for lunch though to warm up a bit and also I am sooo hungry today, I blame all that exercise last night!!0 -
Heating remains off here, but I'm drawing closer to putting the heating on! Night time temperatures of about 2c really cools the house down.
Wrapping up well is helping me survive just now, I remain hopeful of keeping the heating off until Novemeber.0 -
