We should have the heating on for a hour in the morning and a hour in the evening. But hubby has been blasting it on much longer than we agreed. I keep having to turn it off.

OOOOOOOooooo the heating wars, I used to have them. But the other way round, I have health problems and the cold adds so much pain. The OH used to work out doors and would whinge abount the 'greenhouse' LOL. He'a a softy now so we have a truce.( and warmth!)
  • Ok, i give in. Its not that im particularly cold, as i have trackies, uggs, long sleeved top and sweatshirt on (no joke), but there is a coldness about the air and i make great savings in all my household budgets, as i like warmth, so the storage heaters are going on now and will stay on 'till Feb/March. yyaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy.

I can feel that the heat core of the house is cooling, a degree at a time. It isn`t cold yet but I have brought out my lakeland towel airers, ready to spring into action. They are very low wattage and are good at keeping background temperature up. I switched on for a few hours yesterday and am still in on/off mode but will soon switch on for 24/7. Each one takes less electricity than an old light bulb

Heating still firmly off but woodstove on for a little while very night as we are burning old documents as part of a decluttering programme. Also, last night I have tested the new hot water bottle for the first time, it is lovely!
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Heating on and proud of it - Im no martyr!
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Still off for now, but don't think it'll be much longer before we switch it on. Felt quite cold yesterday. Ended up getting into bed to warm up in the afternoon, but then I feel asleep :o Whoops, not good when there's plenty I can be doing around the house!

We've had our heating on a couple of times recently. I'm not prepared to suffer!

It's quite cold here this morning and through having that thermometer in the bedroom I can verify that it is 14c(57f)I guess that is still a put on an extra jumper situation.

I do miss not putting the CH when I wish to and that cosy feeling but it's where I am and probably will be from now on. So to me if being under a duvet means I am cosy I'll do it whatever time of day it is.

The housework will still be there for another time. So if you were warm and enjoyed your sleep that is more important.:)

What seems to get the coldest even if I do all the extra's to keep warm and avoid putting the CH on are my fingers and nose...so if it gets really cold I'll wear my gloves indoors.

Popperwell - My nose and hands are always cold too lol. I think my hands are cold because they are open to the elements when pushing the buggy and also because I work in the chiller section in the supermarket and I cant get on with gloves so they seem to be cold all the time!

Heating is still off here and me and DH are still in short sleeves so it cant be cold enough for the heating yet lol. Kids are all in long sleeves and youngest has a vest on too.

I dont think its very cold outside either as I'm still wearing my cardigan (but I have a big layer of fat to keep me warm lol plus I find the walking makes me warm and too warm for a coat for now). Kids all have their coats on and some mornings on the walk to school they have their gloves on too. Might have to put socks on DS's hands as none of the mittens seem to fit him.

It gets quite cold in our lounge of an evening (9pm) so we have blankets for then (but again we are in short sleeves).

Unless there is a drastic drop in temperature or one of the kids are very poorly I am still hoping to make it to Halloween before the heating is needed.

  • Off here.Had it on a few times on particularly cold days but havent felt the need to have it on regularly yet. Although.....

I came back from holiday yesterday and my heating was on FULL! My mum had been down to check on the house and had accidentally turned the switch to timer (which we never use-only manual) and my heating had been on for 10 hours a day whilst no one had been in! I've just about got over the shock and my poor mum feels terrible bless her :(
