  • mine is still off (but thats more due to the boiler needing parts lol)

could do with having it on today to be honest - was 2 degrees outside at 8am today and im frozen!

can anyone tell me, is there any truth in the theory that turning off radiators in some rooms saves money? im happy to turn them off in the rooms we dont use often but not sure if thats a myth as surely the boiler is still working as hard to heat the water for the rest of the radiators?

My central heating has been off since last December, and even then I only had it on its lowest setting for a week. Just cant afford the gas bills anymore so its only going on if its really, really cold!
  • The last few days have been milder and when I was out on Saturday night in Durham City going by what the girls did not have on, they did not seem to be feeling the cold.

This made me smile. Good to know the girls of Durham City haven't changed in the nearly 30 years since I lived there! :D

Not that it's much indication of the temperature, as they were the same even in ice and snow!

Cold here but heating remains off. Have been tempted but decided to make some christmas cake yesterday and a roast dinner today just so the oven could be on and perhaps make the house warmer.

Heating has been on here today at times to dry clothes. Off on holiday on Sunday and want to get everything washed and dried. Once all the washing is done it will be firmly off. Although we have a friend house sitting so she may want to put it on. Hopefully when we get back we'll be able to keep it off as much as possible.

Heating off here but only because DH has decided to re-route central heating pipes due to the extension he is building. I can feel the core of the house getting colder. I'm cold, two tea- shirts and a jumper plus two pairs of trousers plus a fleece coat when I go outside

The thermometer suggests the house is cold but I felt colder. I am not wrapped up as much as usual but my hands are warmer, I feel cosy in bed, I have a short sleeved shirt on and my only concession is my thermal socks. So again, hopefully I can keep the CH off a while longer...

I see that having had more bad news about food prices expected to rise according to the media this morning they are on about energy again because it is an ageing system that needs upgrading according to the radio news but rather glibly as a throw away line the presenter suggested that we may need to put on an extra jumper. Something many on here have had to do already so sadly many more may be joining us soon.

So we're not so daft after all.
