We woke to a -4  and it felt it too, warmed up to 1 degree all day, so myheating has been on all day, no sun and only a small thaw for about an hour and its freezing again now, we are supposed to get some more snow tonight in the East , and the temperature for the daytime for the next week is not going to get above 1 degree during the day , so we have a very cold week ahead, and below freezing of a night.......So heating on until it warms up .....

Gosh. Its much milder here shegar, local reading is five above right now. I didn't light the woodburner in the end but have huddles under my downstairs duvet.

Off since 8.30am (comes on at 7am to take the chill off) as I've been out all morning. Done a few chores since I came in which kept me warm but now sitting down with a cuppa so might start to feel it shortly. Will try to hold out til this evening as it has been on a bit more than usual over the snowy weekend, got my hottie and a fleece at the ready :D

Just lit the woodburner. Its mild, not quite as mild as testerday, but not feeling brilliant and not going to suffer needlessly so wood burner on. Also, the condenstaion was reasonably heavy this morning and i popped a heater up there to help that situation.

Woke to another hard frost and its been freezing cold today again........Heating is on and its freezing already outside, forcast say -7 tonight. we still have a lot of snow laying, its been about 1 degree everyday since sunday morning so there is no thaw....Oh well its winter and its nice to see a bit of snow................:D
  • We woke to -5c but no snow but I am still amazed how so far this winter we have not had to touch the thermostat, the 18c its on has been enough to keep the house warm via the CH, not needed any other heat at all. Coldest place is always the kitchen sadly as wall oven has a fan that comes on whenever I use it to cool down the warm air coming from oven so cupboards don't catch fire. Just wish door into it wasn't at one end as then heat from hall would warm it up, but its a galley kitchen with oven at end furtherest away from door and so gets chilly there, sigh I adore my kitchen but there was no room for a radiator and a wall heater would cost rather a lot to run so not an option so I just wrap up to go and cook till i warm up. At the moment its -1c they say -3c is low for tonight but they said 1c was lowest last night and they were out by at least -5c might have been even colder before I got up and checked at 6.15am.

Did have lovely sunshine this morning which lit up all the icy places and made them look nice, but it melted this afternoon as went up to a whopping 3c.

    Stay warm and safe

Had the heating off all day and the kids shivered and got ready for school while it was 12 deg, even though we had a bit of sun it didn't go over 13 all day, so I put it on to bring it up to 14 when the OH got home from work.
The thermostat is now down to 12 as my OH is out for the night and the kids are in bed, so I'm just sat here in my thermal underclothes (plus others! :D) with a warm glass of red wine :D

Prepareathome, you can get underplinth heaters for kitchens, both water and electric.

  • Thanks L-E I will look into them, they should not be so expensive as heat rises :)
