Is your heating ON or OFF?

The problem is that the one I have found has dual controls which means it nees to be plugged in to 2 sockets (one for each) and I already have everything on extension cords in my bedroom.. would prefer one with a single control for the whole one - a double not a single size. Double size but with single control.
Anyone can recommend one?
The one I have found got over 200 five star reviews....but that dual control.. hmmmm
I have a silentnight one I got from Asda for around the £16 mark which is a single control, washing machine safe and toasty. Doesn't use much electricity at all and is really large. They have them at the moment for £14 I think. Definitely worth a look, I would recommend it
Sadly the heating has been on here the last 3 days, the loft insulation is making no difference whatsoever. I didn't think it would to be honest considering the downstairs has a large extension which is flat roofed therefore no heat. My bedroom is toasty but downstairs the heat is just lost and I can't have it cold with the wee one running around. I'm generally strict and turn it off at 7pm latest but it has been bitter here so it's been on till 10 or 11 since I've been working on my uni stuff. It got turned off tonight at 10pm and I turned my electric blanket on so going to get cosy and watch a film upstairs.Credit Card: £796 Left/£900 October 2011 :eek:Store Card: £100 October 2011

I got my single-control leccy blanket from @rgos many moons ago. I can't remember how much it was at the time but not expensive. The nice thing about it is that it's in some sort of synthetic sheepskin so it feels warm to touch even when it's off. The other nice thing is that it goes up to six and that setting is ROASTING. I just like it to take the chill of the bedclothes, really.
This part of North London is covered in snow, too. There's about two inches of it on the balcony railing and it's still falling. Luckily, it's warm and so snug in here at the moment. Must be all those tea-lights.0 -

There's about 5/6" here so far and still falling heavily. Bah humbug, I loathe it! The only consolation is it's warmer than it has been for the past few days and the bitter icy wind has died down. Heating is on 18c and will stay on now til the white stuff goes.0

Yep mine is on and has been all week. I adore my heated blanket too - sometimes it makes life worth living :j:j:jI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
So much milder this mornoing....my kitchen was seven! Hurrah! It feels great in the house.
Ended up being outside ion the snow which had turned to icey rain last night for a couple of hours with animal dramas, and was very grateful we had decided to leave immersion on for the benefit of the pipes. A hot bath quite possibly saved my health somewhat.0 -
Down here in Cornwall, we must be the only ones not having snow!! Not seen so much as 1 snowflake yet! Gutted!
Looking on the bright side though, it hasnt been all that cold either so i am not spending a fortune on heating0 -
Hi, not snowing here in Cornwall but it has been very cold, luckily the sun is shining today which means my hot water is getting hotter by the minute with the solar panels. Set the thermostats on my underfloor heating to 17 degrees at the start of winter and it has hardly come on at all. Woodburner going in the evenings for comfort and look (we took down 9 large conifers to build so wood is free). The house is only 3 years old, designed by me to be cheap to run and certainly is. Large windows at the back which is south facing and small ones at the front - to make the most of solar gain. Sitting here typing in the glorious sunshine, have had to pull the blind down a little to keep it out of my eyes.
When we see on tv about other pensioners having to choose between heat and food, we say to each other how lucky we are to have a house which is always warm, is cheap to run and energy efficient.
Built in the garden of our old large Victorian house which was sold and don't regret a minute of its building. Off to have a hot shower powered by the sun.0
