It is so cold here that the heating clicked on overnight. There is a big temp difference betweenupstairs and downstairs. Now I know that warm air rises but surley with central heating the temp should be pretty similar?

We now have ice, snow and fog. I am not planning on setting a toe outside today.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

AND considering I got massive fielods at the front and massive woods at the back.. gonna be just GRAT tomorrow.. my dog already gone crazy when I took her out for a pee... she loves snow... :)

Heating ON - of course.. on 22....

We woke to approx 5 inches of snow this morning its thick in the trees and hedges too, been out to feed and de ice birds water, took our little rosie chihuahua for a walk , she only stands 6 inches tall so I had to walk her on the road where a car track had been otherwise she would have looked as if she was in a snow drift...:eek: We are on a very quiet country road so we were both safe..........my heating is on and its lovely sitting having a cuppa tea and looking out from the conservatory windows to see all the birds tucking in to some of my homemade bird cakes.........:DKeep warm all.......
  • No snow here at all but it's a little warmer this morning so the heating is off for the time being. May have to put it on later if it gets any colder.

  • The heating is off presently but it will be going on for a bit this evening once it gets dark.

Just gave BG my latest meter-reading and I've only used 45 units of gas since mid-November. This means a bill substantially lower than this time last year, about half I think. Not surprising really as we had bitterly cold winter weather from mid-November last year right through till goodness knows when.

The four inches of snow on top of the balcony-railing appears to have either fallen off or melted since the early hours of the morning. There are still several inches of the white stuff lying all about. It looks quite pretty but I'm sure the birds must be feeling quite chilly. Will go and put some food out for them in a minute once I've had another cup of coffee.
  • No heating on yet fella sleeping off nights (hard shift as he was driving a lorry) in toasty warm bed. Me in lounge hiding under spare duvert with dressing gown on always flap when heating we got in heating debt last year so have meters it was on only for two hours yesterday plucking up courage to get dressed and enter kitchen which is always cold ( waiting for my fella to put up curtain pole so my new thermal door curtain can be in place) at least if i cook thinking flapjacks and a cakei be warm live in a flat above shop and dont get any heat frm downstairs cold slushing white stuff outside daft dog hiding under her homemade durvert

Mrs Veg Plot as the stairs are open plan from the lounge here, I lose a lot of heat to the bedrooms. Like cleggie I go upstairs to read, listen to the radio etc, but still have to keep going downstairs to play garden-door attendant to the 3 furpets! Oh well, it keeps the circulation going :D

Sun out warming rooms,it's melting out but the pavements are slippery,i've got three dogs pestering me to go out it's abit to slippery for me at the moment. The daft things behave as if i'm asking them to walk on hot coals when i let them out in the garden but when it comes to running round the field it's a differant story.Hope to keep the heat off as long as poss need to make up for having it on for a while yesterday.hope everbody is keeping warm ok
  • Please be very careful tomorrow everyone. Falling temps overnight means any rain which has fallen will turn to ice tonight.

Good lord! I just saw on BBC News 24 that the temp last night in Ukraine was minus 33 degrees. That gas pipeline which the Russkies keep holding Ukraine to ransom about must be coming in handy around now.

I've got the bread-maker on the go and am making a huge vat of soup so the kitchen is nice and warm at the mo even though the window is open a crack because of the steam. I might do a bit of baking later just to keep busy as I have a kilo of YS plums to use up.

No heating on at the moment, I don't think I need any. I have a feeling it will be a very different story once it gets dark as a I doubt it will be staying at 12 degrees in here.

I dug out a rather fetching American comforter out of storage and put it on top of the duvet last night: a bit heavy but oh so very warm. Luxury! I loafed around in bed for a while not wanting to get up when I woke at 8.30
