Thanks L-E I will look into them, they should not be so expensive as heat rises :)
I think they both obviously need a fan and the electric one is just an electric heater, so won't be cheap to run. But if you need a bit of warmth now and again and you haven't got the space for anything else.... :D

Btw, I think they're called plinth heaters, not underplinth..... which would be in the floor :D

Cooler here again this morning, and the weather suggests we might get snow on friday. I have lit the woodburner this morningbut will let it burn out this afternoon to eek out the wood a bit, i don't feel up to bringing more in and want some here for tomorrow and friday!

Prepareathome my neighbours have a small kitchen and don't have room for a radiator, the kitchen is in an extension on the back of an old terrace so it gets cold, they've got a plinth heater which heats the room really well.

    Theirs is something like this:

It's fffffreezing here. So cold it feels like the doors/windows are all open so I've turned the ch back on, it's rare that I do during the day but this is one of those days. I just can't stand being this cold, so blow the expense! (Will no doubt feel bad about it later but for now I'll enjoy feeling warm :p)

My heating was on from 6pm to 10.30pm yesterday.

It's still well below freezing here and I've just relented and put the heating on for an hour...I am soooo cold despite hoovering the house in an attempt to warm up:o

  • None on here at the moment, the thermostat says 10 degrees and it feels like it. By the time the heating had soared up to 13 last night it felt balmy, so it's not difficult to see how you might become accustomed to a cooler temperature eventually as long as you're well-wrapped up. Cor, these new @ada fleece slippers are cosy!

As my new bill was so low compared to last year, I reckon I can put the heating on a bit more often if I feel the need. There's no much more of winter left now, thank goodness.

Lostinrates: I am worried about you. Is there no-one who could help you bring some wood inside so you can feed that hungry wood-burner? No-one who could be persuaded in return for a cuppa with a nice slice of cake and maybe a pat and a cuddle with Dogdog? If you can't get active to get the circulation going you must be warm.

The heating been turned up to 13, me and the boy aren't too bad really.

We've got alot more oil left in the tank than this time last year. I normally manage to scrape a refill of 1000 litres until the end of Feb, but I've got well over half a tank still left. I refused to tell the Mrs how much we have left, as I know she will justify putting the heating all the way up to 15 deg in the daytime! Not on my watch :D

I hope your OK, I'll just echo B&T, have you got someone who could come in to check you are ok and maybe help a tiny bit?
If I was anywhere near you at all, I'd be over now :(
Keep warm, layers/dogs :D and please look after yourself. You can always buy more wood, you can't buy health again. x

Oh, you know how it is, i don't like to ask. I am sure someone would. I could go and bring in some myself, but just don't feel up to it. I can plug in a heater if i get desperate....i have that choice that many do not:(. And, dog dog has a bit of a bad rep locally....thanks to her collection of denim from the leg wear of people who didn't get permission to come in:o:D

Later i will have to go out and cart some buckets of water about, which will warm me up :).

I think my dad might come over on thursday and he gets cross with the cold and dh is home on friday night and will restack some wood then. If i still feel. Wonbly tomorrow i will ask my dad to take me to the library, (i refuse to drive if i feel nopt up to par, i will not risk other people!) get some thing to read and curl up in bed.:D
