we should have a -7 tonight.:eek:Now if people dont put their heating on at those temps then they never will........
But my woodburners onIt's still 9 deg in our bedroom though and it was -6 outside at 5.15 when I got home, so I'm sure it's going to be alot lower here than -7!

Well if we all resist wacking the rads on for as long as possible the fuel companies will be panicking costhey aint making any money from us. Ha ha hopefully they will reduce the price to encourage us to use it!
Ha ha it worked.... prices going down ...mind you Ithink I caught hypothermia in the meantime!0 -
On and staying that way until it's above freezing out there. I thank God I'm not one of the pensioners who has to make a choice but if I did it would be heating over food. I don't mind losing £'s to fend off this cold and I need lose lbs anyway0

The heating is definitely on here considering it was -12c when we left the house this morning!
I've been trying to make it as comfortable as possible here, mostly between 20-22c when it's bitterly cold outside. We set it to come on at 5:45am (awake at 6:00am) and to click off at 7:00am (leave the house by 7:15am). In the evening it comes on at 6:00pm (home at 6:30pm) and clicks off at 10:00pm (bedtime).
For some reason our bedroom always seems to be cold despite the radiator being on full.
Anyone got any decent tips for heating?
Thanks!0 -
Here in Scotland it has been incredibly mild - rather spring-like in fact. I hope it a) stays that way and b) reaches the rest of the UK asap. So my heating has been off as I have got all hot and bothered spring-cleaning. Windows open all morning too and washing out. Haar has come in now and as the sun goes down the temperature is beginning to drop. I hope tomorrow is as nice.
Keep warm all of you suffering in those minus temps.31.5/1000 -

I just wear a lot of layers when it is cold and block all the drafts. I have bubble wrap on the NE windows as that is where the wind blasts my house.
I think you probably could turn off your heating a bit earlier at night if you are in bed at 10pm, perhaps 9?
Hopefully you will get tons of suggestions for keeping warm on here!31.5/1000 -
Got half my house heated! Annoyingly my bathroom and back bedroom need heaters on low for most of the year coz of damp problems.:( Other then that I have a little convector heater set to around 16C for the room Im mostly in.
Heating for the living room is a duvet and hot water bottle and the bedroom heating depends on how warm you are after running and diving under/out of the duvet!!LOL:D0 -
because my landlord is playing for time in fixing/replacing windows and patio doors, and mending the roof so water doesnt gush down my walls, (only been 3 winters now) i have been putting in excess of £50 a week on my meter. i have made the decision that he isnt going to get all his rent on monday. i will make it up when i can, but right now, i need to be warm.0
