My bungalow normally stays at 18 degrees during the day in the winter if I dont put the heating on,its south facing, and we have very large windows, but I like it at 21 so on it goes, I feel chilly under 21 and to me I dont feel comfortable, I always wear a thin fleece indoors, I do love my heat.....:D

me too. Can't function properly until main room is 22 or over.
  • I have barely had mine on at all instead opting for jumpers and things instead. Since October apart from my regular £25 per month I have spent £50 extra on gas which isn't too bad at all I don't feel and aside from the regular £25 per month I put in the electric meter I have put in an extra £30, so all in all £80 for a total of 3 months of nippy weather isn't bad.

I will put it on in the morning if I need to but throughout the day we play and things to keep warm and as soon as little one is in bed it goes off and i use a blanket/duvet/exercise bike/bed to keep warm.

I hate using the heating but needs must and my house isn't even insulated. The loft has recently been upgraded but it has made not a jot of difference and the cavity wall people didn't bother appearing and my landlord has done nothing about it either. *Sigh*

i have cavity wall insulation from years ago and I wonder how efficient it is-it's foam-so maybe not very.

I'm sure if it wasn't there house would cool even quicker-but it's so frustrating when I heat main room to 22 to see it come down again in just a few hours.

Oh I couldn't cope with that heat. Would feel ill. Show's we're all different.
  • Came in tonight to find DD2 had turned the heating up to 25 as she said she was cold - having been sat in a skimpy top and thin leggings it's no wonder!!! Soon turned it down but it's taken an age to cool down and is still at 21 degrees, can't wait for the return of normality and get to 19 degrees!
  • My lounge is 14 degrees and yes I am too tight to put my heating on most of the time! I have put it on about 10 times for around an hour or so, so far this winter - no wander my DD is only £20 and I'm in credit currently, if it stays that way will decrease DD in March, energy company won't let me currently. I have a great range of sofa blankets! :money:

Does anyone else here wear long underwear? I find that long underwear, including long johns and a top, helps a great deal, probably adding a few degrees to perceived temperature. I'm interested to know whether the fancy thermal layers you can get at outdoors shops etc. are better again, and worth the extra ££££ to buy. Anybody have experience?

We have the heating on a few hours every day in the morning and evening. This house leaks heat something shocking, so need to stay warm other ways as heating it all day is out of the question.

I managed to get hubby some thermal wear from Yeomans longsleeved vest and long johns for £6.99 BOGOF before christmas he's feeling the cold after losing 4 stone. Went to get him some more but they'd reduced them to £3 each all they only had shortsleeves left.
The heating has not been on mucg again here it's gone mild, and I am still closing all the doors day and night keeping the heat in the rooms as the sun goes around the house and opening the curtains as wide as possible for the free heat from the sun.
Why pay full price when you may get it YS ;)

The heating has been on very little here,we have now set the timer to come on in the mornings, the thermostat is really low so it only clicks on if its really cold.Theres stiil the rest of Jan and Feb to get through yet so if its does turn to something minus silly we can afford to have it on with the amount we have saved.
