Bit cooler today, hallway dropped to 10.5C overnight and the living room to 12C so heating back on for an hour.

Wow that's cold! I can bear it down to about 15 before I give in!
Mine is 19.2 today with no heating (but it is a flat so probably keeps warmer).
  • ours is set to 18c its currently 19c so its not been clicking on, its on all day but i will reduce it when ds1 has gone back to school and il wrap up with a blanket or two and lower to 16c so it kicks in when it really needs too.

i've had my heating off for 4 days now, it had been very mild and even though it's now extremely windy and is 5C outside the house is still 18C and i've even taken my slippers off as my feet are too warm.

i'm happy to not be paying for heating right now but i'm also desperately behind on my laundry and i know it won't dry inside without the heat on but it's too wet and windy to dry outside, didn't expect this kind of problem at this time of the year!
  • Evening everyone. I'm more of a lurker on this thread however wanted to share some pleasing news with you as a direct result of this site and this thread.

This time last year I was using far too much gas and electric and always playing catch up with payments. I have just had my bill in, having had my Light bulb moment in Jan last year financially, and am pleased to say, after payment taken, I am £14 something in credit! This is unheard of and I am over the moon! I may be able to reduce my monthly payment too as I've been overpaying to get the balance to zero - so now can pay for what I use when I use it!!! :D

So, today my heating is off! And unless there is snow or ice outside then it shall remain off. I feel so much healthier for it too!

Thank you all and Good luck and Happy New Year.

My gp recommended we turn our heating off.....dh has psoriasis and it really does improve with heating off, but most noticably with lots of exposure to the sun...the perfect OS combination....outside gardening and inside with minimal heat! I used to have far fewer colds without heating than I did before or after. LAst year with some central heating.....though much, much less than would have likes, I had two flus and cold after cold after cold. this year, so far none...but I don't think its just to do with the heating, and when ill I take it as easy as I can on myself.....bed with electric blanket and woodburner on.

Everything off today. Dogs are comfortable but have to admit I'm a bit cool.
