On and turned up again today as I am sick and spending the whole day indoors due to the schools being closed.

    Thanks. :)

I'll start checking temps when I first get up and very last thing, it hasn't been as cold as the coldest day certainly but we've had condensation at warmer late evening and later morning temperatures already this year!

I tend to find condensation to be much worse in early autumn when we get a sudden cold day. This being due to the house being warmer and carrying much more moisture. I use a dehumidifier in the evenings which I find helps loads. I'm now finding it is collecting less and less each day as the moisture content in the house lowers. Your woodburner should help improve the condensation problem as mine can send my room down below 50% RH when it's lit.

Lostinrates - I always find that we have no/very little condensation when its windy outside, not sure why but its always been the case here, if i can hear the wind in the chimney then the dehumidifier won`t need to go on unless its particularly freezing cold outside.

Yesterday I switched my old oil-fired central heating boiler on yesterday for the first time since March.

It was a bit like the scene near the end of the "Flight of the Phoenix" where the everybody is hoping that the aeroplane's engine will start.

It started. Hope it keeps going.

I put mine on for an hour or so last night but it's off again now.

Although I kept reading about people complaining that their energy companies have increased their direct debits for estimated next year usage... So i thought I'd see if there was anything on my account about mine going up. Instead I found a usage comparison; 2010 / 2011...

got a feeling they won't be putting mine up.
  • I gave in tonight and put the heating on. It's been on around 2 hours, the thermostat is at 20c and the radiators are just warm. It's going off soon.

My eon graph looks similar to yours, down 80% over the last few months compared to last year too. However, over the summer I can't get it much lower, we seem to be using around 10kwh a day. That's only for a gas hob. We used around 60 a day in Jan and Feb but it plummeted in March to around 20 so I must have turned the heating off then.

I'm now going to try to decrease the electricity so I have a lovely green graph too!
  • The thermostat showed the indoor temp at 12 degrees when I got up this morning and it's climbed up to 15 with no heating on. I think the downstairs neighbours must have cranked theirs up. That'll do me.

Over the last few days I've found that I'm fine at 15 degrees. I coped with 13 the other evening but was cold so anything lower than this I'm putting the heating on. However, it goes off before bed as I hate a warm bedroom and can cope with the cold when asleep with my duvet.
