Is your heating ON or OFF?

  • Heating went on for an hour in the morning and 3 hours yesterday evening for the first time. I only have the thermostat at 16, and have moved around furniture so the radiator in the kitchen is unobstructed and it has already made a huge difference.

Might put it on tonight for a bath. Otherwise, I'll try and keep it off again.

  • Down to 9 degrees in dining room, 6 degrees in the lounge and 6 degrees in the front bedroom, so I won't be putting the CH on just yet. I might put another t shirt on though under my fleece. Laptop cooling fan not coming on at all these days!

WOW I couldnt cope with your inside temperatures ,!!. Each to their own I suppose, if you had those temperatures outside you would soon come in to get warm, but inside NO WAY , my shed was 5 degrees this arvo and that was dam cold , glad to come out of it ,.......

Weve had glorious sunshine today, but it soon went cold around 3, and forcasted -3 tonight, so my heating is definately on .......:)

My heating's been on all day and i'm still not warm. The gas bottle that my OH found in the garage ran out yesterday and he hummed and hey'd about getting another one. Now it's really cold in the kitchen and he's moaning that he should've went out and got gas. It's windy and snowing here right now. It feels a lot colder than yesterday as it's not a north westerly wind. I wasn't actually cold yesterday, even with all the gales.

And I thought it was cold here! I wouldn't be able to function if it was that cold. I'm cold just reading about it. Do you have double glazing? The coldest my kitchen has got is 9C without heating on. Don't know if it would get any colder. I'm not waiting that long to find out!

My kitchen was 8 today, started at 6. I'm guessing bedroom/bathroom must be around the same personally, that would be too cold for me for the sittng room if I had any choice at all
  • Loved the windy weather we had earlier in week, managed to dry all my sheets and quilt covers outside + line full of clothes.

Have had heating on for couple of hours at different times of day and some days managed without.

Seem to be getting used to colder temperatures. But draw the line at 9degrees inside.BRRRR

Ours is finally on as the boiler manufacturers came out to fix the boiler, so we have hot warer tooo- hallelujah! Altho we've not yet mastered the thermostat so the radiators are cold! Doh! :0) im thinking of the saved pennies!
    First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!
  • Ours is still off, I only hope it works when and if we decide we need to put it on.

Have seen a lovely electric 'heated throw' in Robert Dyas which is machine washable so am debating whether to treat myself to one of these before they all disapear although their around £25 so wondered if anyone else has one? I cant see it uses much electric ?
Failure is only someone elses judgement.

i hope you are all staying warm and healthy.

when our new boiler has works (ggggrrrrr - i didnt pay for a new boiler to have it brake down so often) we have it set to come on in morning and in evening. if i am alone in house it doesnt go on again, but if hubby is home it does. it was 17 degrees today and i was sat in t'shirt sewing! :D i can cope without heat, its the hot water than really annoys me when the boiler goes. i need my hot shower in a moring to wake me up! :(
