That's looks great, also what I like about it is there'll be little or no draught when you don't need to light it. That alone would be a big increase in economy not to mention comfort. What I've often wondered about these wood burning stoves is how much they cost to run? Are they more economical then gas or oil central heating?

    Thank you:)

Have no idea on cost as we're not running a boiler off it. I've had it lit since 3.30pm and as well as some kindling have only used 1 1/2 small logs so far that are 7" long. It's still chucking out the heat:) I did buy 2 cubic metres of wood and hope that we won't use all of it over the winter.

DH has just got the open fire going in the lounge as well before we settle down to watch Dexter:)

I must be ill. I don't feel it but I can't get any heat. It was 21C in the kitchen at suppertime, what with the cooker being on, and my hands, nose and feet were still frozen and I had goosebumps on my arms. The heating has been on all day and I was on the sofa under a duvet and was still cold. I'm actually shivering just now.

Cold and snowy here, our heating has been on a low setting for quite a while and I am thinking about increasing the setting as I am sitting here with PJs, a dressing gown, thick socks and slippers and I am still cold. I will try with a blanket and if that doesn't help I will up the heating.

  • My heating is now on with Lakeland heated Airer thingy which I am keeping busy, now timed with my Iphone Time Manager App.
I am trying to keep my costs low by dressing in layers, eating hot food, learning to keep a budget, using my slow cooker, and microwave. (my cooker is broken and needs replacing), checking my bank account.(makes being online a must not a luxury) etc etc.

Tonight's the night! I am just about to put the heating on, it is getting chilly and we have definitely noticed it getting a lot colder this last week. We have rubbish night storage heaters though so I am going to just put them on low and see how we go, otherwise it ends up really hot during the day and I open a window which is silly really!

Ours is on but now that the fabric of the building is warm the boiler doesn`t seem to be clicking on as much so hopefully it won't prove too expensive.

The gizmo is reading zero outside and 18 inside so both us and all the furries are happy.

Had to scrape the car this morning as it was all covered in ice and snow and i clean forgot about the hot water bottle trick - i shall remember in the morning though as it will be a bit of a mare.

Abwsco - I`m very jealous of your lovely new stove, it looks lovely and something that you will really enjoy.

    Keep warm peeps!

Finally succumbed today. Put the gas fire on for a couple of hours.

You can tell when it is cold when your barmy microwave oven goes into hibernation. When the temperature gets to about 7 degrees it just bleeps constantly, it was the first thing I heard when I got up this morning. Then when it gets to about 5 degrees, it just packs up completely. So, i'll just leave it for the winter and it will be ready after its sleep in the spring. I have no idea why it does it. Fortunately I don't use it too often.
