Is your heating ON or OFF?

Ours is still off and will remain so for as long as possible. My Mam is coming to stay with us between 22nd Dec and 19 Jan so we will have to put it on then for a couple of hours am / pm as she is 72 and I don't want her catching a chill. Other than that we will reluctantly put it on if the pipes threaten to freeze or there is snow / ice outside.
Saying that though we are keeping warm in the evening by snuggling under throw and a calor gas fire (just 1 bar) as the bottle lasts ages and at £40 is cheaper than the heating. Downside is the condensation it creates but an old towel wiped round the windows of the bungalow 3 times a day and opening the bathroom window after a shower / bath to let steam out prevents them geting too wet.
Am looking for a small heater with sensor that I can use in conservatry where we eat it has to be safe with dogs and lino. Possibly safe to leave on to cut in to frost free when temp drops. ????

I just posted that our calor gas has went up to £32.50 (delivered). You have to pay £40?! Last year it was about £24/£25.0 -
temperatures dropping here 9 degrees i the kitchen, single figures for the first time since the late warm spell. We're busy, but when we sit and take a break we are noticing it quite sharply today. I'm just about to go and break up some more waste wood (rather than take it out to the barn and bring in already prepped stuff) and light the woodburner so that when we stop later we don't cease up in the cold!
Next week I have workmen in the house doing heavy work. I'm hoping they'll cope alright but if not then I will put the electric radiators out there for them (they are in outbuildings mainly but doing some work in the house too).0 -

Very cold here, still some snow. Am under a sleeping bag on the sofa with the candles lit, but it's freezing getting up to go to the bathroom.
Heating will have to go on for a bit tonight when I have a bath, but hopefully only for an hour.February Grocery Challenge - £100.87/£180February Don't Throw Food Away Challenge - £0.60/£1.500 -
very chilly here this PM, candles lit early, hot choc and hot water bottle me thinks for tonight. x0

Have mine on for 2 hours in morning and 2 hours at night.
FLat was toasty warm until wind picked up. It is now coming in via our chimney even though we have a gas fire fitted.
I cant wait to move back to a newer built property without a chimney. Why I thought I wanted one Ill never know.0 -
I was going to moan about the lack of sun today making the house cold, but i think reading others i'm lucky. The house has been 14c i've kept warm by doing loads of HW and wearing layers,i'm sat down now with a hot drink and the candles lite. The LR should soon be at a comfortable 20,just taking it day by day now every day it's off is a bonus .0

We have ours on timed now, so it comes on for a couple or so housrs in the morning and five hours in the evening. Very often it is not having to be used as the multifuel burner also works wonders as well.Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money

8 degrees here. Starting to get tempted to put the heating on. I'm going to do some cleaning to warm myself up!balletshoes wrote: »my living room is definitely colder if I have either the kitchen door or the hall door open, so my DD is getting told off regularly now to "shut that door!!"
Hope you do it in the voice of Larry Grayson :rotfl:0
