Is your heating ON or OFF?

Realised I was just laying there and laying there in bed when I had intended to get up - because of having to reach out of the covers and grab some nightwear to put on quick because of the cold air in my bedroom - and being put off by my dressing gown being in the next room
Ceridwen, I recognise that dilemma so well - I have this problem all winter because it is impractical and time consuming here to try to get the bedroom warm just for the purpose of getting up. Apart from a dressing gown close at hand, I also keep a folded T-shirt under my pillow so I can slip into that before I dare sit up and drink the tea DH faithfully brings me each morning. (I won't get up before he has lit the kitchen fire, how Victorian does that sound :-)."Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0 -

Im in a wheelchair and my legs are always freezing. Had to put the central heating on this week but am on the lookout for some thermal leggings or long johns for females any ideas where to buy from please.
I got some female long johns from M & S outlet. Black £6, vests £5, but might be more in store if that helps. You can also buy them on line but forgotten the company name.0 -
Yes mines been on for most of the day today Im afraid and I have a big jumper on and a fleece blanket over my legs, but then I do have FMS which mucks up your bodys thermostat as well as everything else it does, so Im always cold.

I also have an M&S pair. But the ones I wear more in practice are a pair of Decathlon yoga leggings which were cheaper than the M&S long johns and even warmer. Not sure Decathlon is everywhere in the UK as much as here in France, though. I try not to start wearing long johns until the outside max temperature drops below 10°C during the day, because once I start wearing them that's it for the winter!"Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0 -
Ours is on, but we have individual thermostatic controls on each radiator so do only heat the rooms that are used. I'm still sat here freezing cold though and I'm sat here with fleeces on, socks and a scarf. Am very aware of the expense especially as although we have a gas boiler it still uses loads of electricity churning the pump to circulate the water round our old victorian house. When I feel cold like thisss though I lose all motivation to do anything. Do I up the radiators and manage the expense and get on or sit and suffer and do nothing?Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0

Aldi had some ladies thermal undies this week but there was a top and leggings in each pack and they were £7.99 for both. The tops are long sleeved with a small V neck and were available in S, M & L.0 -
Weellll...the leetle thought does cross my mind occasionally that everyone will have turned into such miserable little bodies huddled up in duvets/fleeces/et al and barely moving a muscle wishing they were warmer - that it keeps us off the street and away from protesting about all this.
well.....some of us anyways....but not chez ceridwen it doesnt;)
Now ...just where is a "screamer" smiley when one wants it - followed by one of a little person carrying a placard?:D0 -
Kazmeister - can you compromise and put them half way between where you are and where you want them and see if it perks you up?0

I've rolled up an old towel and using that as a draught excluder in the hall as there is a massive gap which blows in cold air. I might have to put it on tonight tho as I'm feeling a bit ill.. got aches and pains and feel a cold coming on. We'll see - a cup of hot water, lemon and honey might do the trick! BBRRRrrrr.
We are waiting for the flat below us to put their heating on.. but they won't, the stingy gits!
My heating has been off and on all year, I have to put the heating on to heat the water. My boiler isnt working right and I,m too scared of the cost to get someone out to fix it. On for a bit longer just recentley though.:T:jDabbler in all things moneysaving.Master of none:o
