It's been lovely here today - not a cloud in the sky and the sun was shining. We've had the heating on for the odd day here and there and the last time was on Saturday. I don't think that's bad for this time of year. Our daffs are growing already.

Still no heating on here in South London...... but am weakening! it's about 17.5 degrees now in the flat - the last couple of days of fog and general cold dampness have eroded the 20 degrees i mnaged to get the flat up to on Saturday.

am still going to try and see if can hold out for another few days - hopefully we will get some sun and some mild nights and can get to the magic 1 December date without heating. Partner is back tomorrow and will notice the cold. i may be under pressure to put some heat on but if so, i suppose 22nd November is pretty good. Will report back!

I'm in South London too and am now starting to find it a bit harder. Last night didn't feel too bad but it's only 15c in here now and I feel cold.

I am going to make the magic day though and have extended it to 3rd of Dec now as that is the day the meter needs to be read for the next bill. No heating all quarter Mr Eon!

I`ve noticed that the stat is firing the boiler up more often, i looked at the gizmo before i went to bed last night and the ice warning was flashing and the temp was 2 degrees, not sure what it actually went down to later on but the car windscreen was frozen solid.

The stat seems to be set just right and is keeping the inside at a steady 18 degrees now so i`m happy with that.

  • Still off here in Hungary. It's about 4c outside but the flat is very well insulated and I assume I'm getting heat from the flat downstairs coming up as well (thanks neighbour!).

I've got my long johns on though, and my Royal Navy woolie-pullie (really thick warm jumper from military surplus shop, £10 inc p&p)...

  • last night my thermometer strips dotted around the house all read 21 degrees. So I switched the heating off, it's only been on for an hour or so morning & evening since Sunday when the outside temperature finally dropped below 10 degrees.
But, in the summer, even on warm days our house remains at around 16 degrees, but we would never put the heating on then ....... Funny how in the winter we would at the same level. :undecided
  • I have been putting our heating on for a couple of hours each evening during the week for the last couple of weeks and a bit longer at weekends to dry the washing.

It is still quite mild where I am, although it is definitely getting colder. I still have nastursiums in bloom in the garden. This morning I noticed the geraniums have buds on them still too.

i've said that myself a few times. In summer the temperature at work would be about 28c and they'd complain it was too hot and turn the air conm on. In winter they'd complain it was too cold and crank the heating up to 28.
