  • Surprisingly cold here today!Walked upstairs and got a definate chill so caved for the 2nd time and shouted down to hubby to pop heating on low.Is it sad that I didn't feel as guilty because it was "technically" hubby that put it on? :rotfl:

We can't change supplier as we rent, but they don't know that. Sorry, that's another thread :D

Actually, you can regardless of what the landlord or agency have told you. You pay the bill so you get to choose the supplier. You just need to tell them who the current supplier is when you leave.

We have a timer thermostat doodad that turns the heating on from 7am - 8am (when I'm getting up and getting ready for work), from 12:30pm - 1:30pm to stop the cat freezing while we're out, and from 9:30pm - 10:30pm to warm the bedroom before we go to bed.

You're putting the heating on for the cat? A cat that's wearing that luxuriant fur coat 24/7? You do know that you're completely daft, don't you and that you're wasting a good hour's worth of heating every day? I have never heard of a cat getting frost-bite while indoors in the UK. Turn it off and save your money.

No heating on here yet: it's 15 degrees so it's not really cold at all.

    Good Mornming Mrsr

It must be the day for noisy neighbours because I was woken up at 4.30 by next doors dog barking. An hour later it was still barking.
They appareared to be in the lounge ignoring it.

I hope you have a good day and the sun shines where you are so no heating.

Our heating is still off in the mornings-I am just putting the little bathroom heater on for 10 minutes while I get dressed. We have been putting the CH on in the evenings now for a couple of hours in the week but longer at the weekend. It is definitely getting colder now though.

It has been on for a while now but I am terrified of the ongoing costs.

Been away from MSE for a few days and woodburner not lit, it was very mild here, even after a frosty night the day got mild.
  • I put my heating on for an hour and checked how much it cost - 56 pence!! Is this average? I am with BG btw and the last tenant left a prepay meter in.

I have had mine on, but sorted out the online bill this morning and have turned it off out of principle!

A pre-pay meter means that you're probably on the highest tariff they can get away with. Last winter I had the heating on for one hour a day just running the one radiator in the living-rom and hot-water and my quarterly bill was £90 so that's a pound day. That is the one reason why I've not got any heating on now, and probably won't until it's sub-zero.
