Is your heating ON or OFF?

BG said they would charge me £300 to remove it returnable in one year. I also only had 2 rads on for the hour. I am going to have to do the same as you. My LL wont let me get loft insulation in either even though it wont cost him.0

Its been a lovely day here , had sunshine from early to about now and the sun is going dow, ive just put the heating on.........We are in for a frost tonight, but at least we get super sunny drying days, ive got all my washing done in the lovely wind, didnt take long to dry either......Ithink weve all done very well to get to near the end of the month and the heating hasnt been on all day like this time last year............
Ive spent the best part of theday doing lots of cleaning up jobs outside, now being warm indoors will soon have me nodding off.......

I had my autumn gas bill of £8, so i'm really happy with that. Now into the winter gas bill period and still no heating, hope to keep it going a bit longer. Just come in from mowing the lawn, and it's nearly December!!I put my heating on for an hour and checked how much it cost - 56 pence!! Is this average? I am with BG btw and the last tenant left a prepay meter in.
You may find that it is more expensive whilst it heats up to its optimum level and the cost reduces alot when it reaches it. My gas fire cost me 9p per hour last year, and my electric heater about 4p per hour.0 -

Oh, the attitude of LLs like that makes me :mad::mad: Why should you have to pay more for heating because of he's a !!!!!!!??? I don't know if there's anything you can do about that but I suppose it might be worth having a word with CAB:(0 -
My landlord too. He wouldn't give permission for BG to fit it for free. He felt he'd be liable for repairs if they mucked anything up. If it aint broke and all that.
I have had my heating on during the day up until today when I have awoken a fighting spirit Why should I just throw my money to BG. So we're sat here with the big quilt over the archway into the dining room. Children have bathrobes on and snuggly slippers with IKEA Irma £1.09 fleece blankets (I got them for 99p last year) sat next to them if they feel a chill. Right now I don't see any reason for the heating on and I'm surprised... although there is a marked difference.
If it is too cold later i'll bring the elect rad down for a little bit. The children will go to bed with hot water bottles tonight.
The timer will be set for an hour in the morning though. This house needs a blast or we dother. Plus, I remember the days of getting ready for school in such cold and it wasn't nice. Who knows though, maybe even that luxury will end up being scrapped.0 -

Last winter I had the heating on for one hour a day just running the one radiator in the living-rom and hot-water and my quarterly bill was £90 so that's a pound day. That is the one reason why I've not got any heating on now, and probably won't until it's sub-zero.
Have you tried Ebico? They are non profit making and charge the same no matter what you are on pre pay or monthly or DD.
I have found them very reasonable, thanks to :money: I changed to them about 2 years ago
Might be worth a look

Didn't have it on yesterday. Did put it on this afternoon for my mum and dad who popped in after being in town, they are in their seventies and feel the cold. We got too hot so it is off again. Managed to get some washing dry outside today so no tumble drier to put on yay.

grr...condensation is horrific this morning. Windows upstairs open and the woodburner is lit downstairs and the dogs have a heat lamp on. I'm not terribly well atm and its times like this I feel the ''danger'' of being so reliant on manual systems....fetching wood is more arduous than flicking a switch for gas or oil. I've been thinking I'll make a hot drink for the last to hours, and he kettle seems like quite enough hard work, lol.
I've got some people coming today, so need the woodburner lit anyway, but plan to go back to bed or make a bed on the sofa as soon as the coast is clear as I feel so grotty.0 -
Ours is still off but not sure for how much longer. Yesterday's sun was lovely, today it's just cold and dull. In here (l/room) it's still 18.5c but this week it will be getting colder and without any sun at all that will soon go down.
Realised this morning that we've had the heating off for over 8 months, which must be a record:T. I shan't sit and shiver, but so far am just adding extra layers - today the long socks and winter slippers have come out.
lostinrates I do feel for you, it's one thing being able to do a quick 10 minutes or so housework to warm up a bit, it's quite another to be ill and feeling wretched. When I was very poorly I must say I far preferred my little 'nest' on the sofa to being in bed.
I found a lovely big thick blanket in a CS, all brightly patterned; with that folded in half I was really snug and could put it over my head to block any light out too.
Oh and whenever I was on my own, if I made a hot drink I made a second and put it in a flask, so next time I only had to pour it out. - and kept it by the sofa!0 -
Ours is still off. It's 15 degrees C in the room that we sit in. I'm typing in fingerless gloves. I've not moved to wearing a hat - but I will do when it gets really cold. The heating will come on if it goes below 14 degrees during the day or 16 degrees after 6pm. My main problem - apart from the limited mobility is that I've started with Reynauds in my feet - so I'm wearing 2 pairs of socks and have fleecy blankets ready to wrap up in.
My mother ordered something from Afibel and they sent her a fake fur cape/bedjacket which she has passed on to me. :j
