I went to turn on the heating this morning for the first time, as me and DS are both a bit poorly and it doesn't work!
Made hot water yesterday, but not today......
So I've got an engineer coming out on the 13thGood job we're not in a massive hurry.

I'm not terribly well atm and its times like this I feel the ''danger'' of being so reliant on manual systems....fetching wood is more arduous than flicking a switch for gas or oil. I've been thinking I'll make a hot drink for the last to hours, and he kettle seems like quite enough hard work, lol.
I've got some people coming today, so need the woodburner lit anyway, but plan to go back to bed or make a bed on the sofa as soon as the coast is clear as I feel so grotty.
I know exactly where you are coming from to do with having to light fires etc.........I always use tohave either open fires or woodburners for the main heat, I would think nothing of foraging for my own kindling, broken branches, I use to get the wood home and my hard work began, out come the bow saw, saw enough for the day a head, then pout come the axe to split, got the coal in, etc....Its ok when your fit enough to do all the hard work that goes into having fires, but like you say when you dont feel well its a diferent story, we had a real flame gas stove that looks just like a woodburner(villager) fitted and one flick and instant flames, no way will I go back to open fires.....We have the central heating on when cold, and of a evening we have the gas stove on ............................
Well on to todays weather we woke to a white ground frost and was very cold and has been all day, I was out this morning and I had the heating on this arvo, tomorow forcasts heavy rain ,so what a difference a day make......keep warm....0 -

DH has been prepping logs on and off through the summer, so all I have to do is wheel them in so not so bad usually.
It IS grotty when you are ill, but maybe doing the activity related to it helps keep me less ill generally?:o:D0 -
Feels really cold here today, horrible weather outside as well. OH is going to laugh when he comes in from work since I'm sitting here under a blanket with a woolly hat on - he at least has an advantage in that he doesn't feel the cold so much!
Still off here, but looking at the forecast for Fife it looks like it's going to be colder at the weekend.February Grocery Challenge - £100.87/£180February Don't Throw Food Away Challenge - £0.60/£1.500 -
We currently have it on in the evenings now, but Saturday evening we made sure that it was switched back to off as I knew it was going to be mild yesterday and it was. I had the windows open in the house and I got three loads of washing dried on the line.
We did switch it to being on timed for it to come on this morning because we knew it was going to be a frosty one. We live in a village and our home is detached so it always feels a bit more colder where we are - think we have our very own micro-climateCat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

ours has been on in evenings for last week just for an hour or two to take nip off the air. I have a pooly lung (pleurisy) and when the temp drops at night it really hurts to breathe in the cold air. Also the kids are back then and its baths for them so need be warm.Jan 2015 GC £267/£260

No heating yet - nearly weakened last week with all the damp and fog early in the week but it got mild again, and then sunny last weekend - the flat warmed nicely to around 20 degrees. still maintaining around 19 - looks like we're going to make it to 1 December this year without any central heating - astonishing!:j0

my heating works! and it's back off again. Although I nearly had to leave it on to dry the lounge; fortunately I realised that I was doing a water change on the fish tank just before it started to overflow.0
