I won the battle, new puppy hates being too hot as he's a fuzzy ballso DP relented and now the timer which I had no idea how to reset for 2 years so resorted to off at the boiler is
1 hour am at 17.5 (instead of 3 hours at 22)
1.5 hour evening at 17.5 (instead of 8 at 21)
Hurrah no more cooking or switch it off at the boilerAt 17 it doesn't come on often. DP isn't moaning or whacking it up as puppy hates it so much & I can breathe easier
One day I might be more organised...........

Ours is ON
We`ve had a big leak upstairs underneath the floorboards and the ceiling downstairs was filling up with water
Its run along the joists and even come through in one place and down the living room wall:eek:
So i need to dry everything out ASAP, the dehumidifier is working overtime, the floorboards are up in one room upstairs and the heating is on.
My ceiling has patches in some places now
We have lots of condensation atm lol. Its going to have to stay turned on for a while now i think but at least we`re not flooded out!
*wonders what else is going to happen* we seem to have had a run of bad luck lately and i`m really hoping that this is the end of it! Cross your fingers for us peeps.

SD, wondered if you'd dried out everywhere from your leak yet.0 -
I've woken up to lots of condensation and a sore throat. The dogs' room is warm but elsewhere isn't that warm. I'm going to go back to bed for an hour this morning (I might be able to nap a sore throat away) but when I come down I'll light the woodburner. While I'm upstiars I'll leave a few downstairs windows open, but its so dank outside that I'm not sure it will dry up anything in the house, maybe just replace the dank air wih some fresher dank air.0

On. As always - on the thermostat and comes on when the temp drops - it was on the morning and for a bit last night. despite that its still taking 4 days for washing to dry on the airers
Its set to 17 for the morns and eve and a half hour at 19 when dd has her bath/ goes to bed - with slippers and jumper we are comfortable.
Got my gas annual review - our usage is average out at £60 per month which I am happy with to heat a 5 bed 4 storey house. Thats ch, hot water and hob. Also inc last winter when we had a very ill fitting kitchen window (I'm talking cm wide gaps around and between the sashes) and no kitchen door so a howling gale up the hall more of the time - its being replaced this year so fingers crossed that makes a difference. Also inc 2 days a week of my IL being in the house and whaking the heat up - they won't be here this year so it might be less....People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

I'm thinking of putting ours on now - it's less than 10c outside, forecasting rain, and inside it's just over 14c.0

mostly off still! we managed to get into November in just jumpers !
(we are early 30s, no kids, no pets and in good health)
last week we had a woodburner fitted so had to put the heating on for a few hours to help dry the plaster (raised lintel = building work)... and found out the shower works SO much better if the heating is on too!
so we're running the heating for shower time and have had the stove burning for an hour or so a night to season it in. average house temp is now about 14, whereas before it was barely 13... yay!Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Hi abwsco,
everything seems to be fine, thanks for asking :A
There is one board still up in the bedroom to let air circulate but it seems to have dried out well. Every now and again there is a faint musty smell when the temperature drops in that room but its fading fast. I think that it will be from the far end of the joist where we couldn`t get the boards up. The fact that the smell is fading and isn`t there all the time gives me confidence that we have escaped extremely lightly - it could have been much worse
We will decorate the living room early next spring so the patchy bits on the ceiling will be covered but i`m finding that they`re not that noticeable now, only if you look up at the ceiling to see how they are going lol
The plaster has dried out nicely in the small bedroom that we had done so when i get some time off i will spend a few hours in there with a damp microfibre cloth going over all the walls and ceiling to get rid of any bits and dust so that the paint will be nice and smooth. I`m still hoping to get this room finished before Christmas.
I`ve just clicked the thermostat up a notch as it was only 16 degrees when i came home from w*rk, i`ve not checked the forecast for a couple of days but i do remember reading that tonight and tomorrow are going to be a lot colder, its 7 degrees outside atm.
