Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
Mostly off and today was lovely, but this evening we put it on high, for a short while, just to give the house a nice shot of heat then it goes off again for the night. Every once in a while we need to put it on at this time of year because it keeps the condensation at bay.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • Lakeland Dryer Airer is doing a sterling job of heating my flat up and drying my clothes.
As a result I have become a bit fanatical about washing and wash a load everyday as I like the Airer to have a bit of moisture on it, because of my asthma.
I hope everyone is keeping MSE and WARM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! health is too important to compromise in this way!!

aside from picking one night each to test each of our storage heaters which i don't really count since i need to find out BEFORE i need them if they are working ok, i've not had the heat on this year

i plan to hold out til at least the 15th so just 2 days yet but who knows maybe i can last til december, that would be brilliant

i just ordered a digital room thermometer with an indoor and outdoor sensor as well as a humidity sensor for £7.99 this way i can guage when i need to let more heat into the bedrooms as we don't have the heaters on in there, neither of us can stand sleeping in a hot room, instead if it's really cold we open the doors and the hall heaters heat the rooms for an hour or so before bed... if the rooms are really low temps i can just leave the doors open longer.

i've not really felt the need for the heat so pushing it further isn't a difficult thing. i've found my mircofleece dressing gown invaluable this year, in fact i've gotten so warm wearing it sometimes that i have to take my slipper boots off to cool myself down! my daughter also has one and hers goes all the way to her ankles so she's even toastier than i am, i just shrug it off quickly if someone comes to the door :p i am wishing i'd bought two though as it could do with a wash and i'll have to live without it, perhaps i shall wash it right before bed then put it on the airer (well when the heat DOES get turned on) it should dry quickly and be ready for the morning i suppose

i've had a good chuckle at the people giving the power companies the two fingered salut, every day i don't even feel the desire to put the heating on i chuckle to myself, talk about a bit of karma coming back to bite them in the bums :rotfl:

Can I ask where did you order it from as that seems like very good value.

Its just as well that I had no intention of turning my heating on today - because it packed up this morning.
Woke up to no hot water and Potterton boiler flashing red. That flashing looks expensive!!

    they're still off!
Although i've got blue LED's on the fish tank and on the gecko viv; and light from the laptop and from the 50inch TV.
I'll have to put them on soon though to warm up the room
  • Our heating is still off. We have been warm enough with a jumper or dressing gown on with socks and or slippers with our normal clothing. We haven't even used hot water bottles for sleeping yet.
Our clothes are still drying well enough - when they aren't drying on the clothes horse then it will be a sure sign that the heating will need to go on but until then or us being cold enough it will stay off.

Ah, the good ol' "check wallet" light. Also to be found on cars. Hope it's a cheap fix!

It's rather warm here so no heating for us.

sure can, got it from amazon, it's got good reviews and though it appears slightly more expensive than other similar devices it's actually cheaper as there isn't any postage for it
