My heating has been on, but I've come on to say I have a dehumidifier :j:j:j I should never have got DH involved, he had to research, compare and generally get in the way :rotfl: :D But the decision was made, and today I have felt the benefit. Despite rain in the air all day so no outdoor drying, several washloads have dried on the airers with the dehumidifier. I'm a complete convert :D No condensation anywhere at all. It's brilliant

It's turned milder again this evening so the heating has clicked off again. I shall be ironing tonight, (that's the downside of getting all this washing dry :p) so the thermostat will be turned further down as I shall be quite hot enough :)

Churchie i knew that you'd like it lol They`re brilliant arn`t they, which one did you go for in the end?

Its mild here too tonight although the fog is so thick its like a heavy drizzle  The heating is on a low level so that if the temp does drop little oldie will be warm, he`s snoring away now quite content, the younger dog and the cat are eyeing each other so i guess that i`ll be refereeing shortly.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

still off here, although there was a slight chill this afternoon but it warmed up once I started cooking

I find it interesting how cooking using the modern cooker hob with a pan bigger than the hot plate and a lid on the pan can heat my whole kitchen (medium sized...big enough for a table that seats 4/6 people in the middle, but not huge) by a degree...whether thats more movement in their etc and that I make sure all the doors are pulled closed while I'm in their too makes a difference. I'm thinking that to deal with the extreme cold I might just have to make stock and do a whole load of batch cooking then! Also, it might not be a whole degree (digital themometre, so might just be enough to tip the balance) After using the oven I leave the door open. I'm measuring all the time in there atm to see what will make it most comfortable in a few weeks. soon I'll be seeing how quickly heat is lost/gained with a small plug in heater...in preparation for preventing pipes freezing!
  • On tonight, but that's only because I can't be bothered to go out to the coal bunker with a plastic bucket. Waiting for an el cheapo coal scuttle to come up on ebay that isn't Brass/Vintage and preferably less than a fiver ;)

You are so right, I love it! We got an ebac one in the end, I think that was the make. DH saw some very good reviews, I wasn't going to argue, I just wanted to try one. I couldn't believe how much water it extracted. We didn't have to empty the tank, but did just out of interest. No wonder we normally get loads of condensation drying the washing in that room  Not any more we don't :rotfl: I've just finished ironing it all :D Now having a glass of wine as a reward;)

  • I'm trying to be strict with OFF right now - I have had it on a bit this week since I was trying to catch up with the neverending laundry pile (been too wet to dry outside) but now I'm caught up hopefully won't have to use it. OH puts in on briefly in the morning when he gets up for work but I'm trying not to use it when it's just me in the flat.

Has been chilly - but that's what blankets are for!

I've discovered a leak in the supposedly excellent part of our roof. its been very slowly leaking there, so I'm going to have to get someone to have a look at it. it explains some damage I feared was damp rot or something and might explain partially why our condensation levels seem so weather related. :(

Its mild enough for me to have needed to strip to my vest while sweeping this morning but now I'm still it feels much cooler. I'm going to light the woodburner and might try and get in the loft to see if I can see anything more about this stupid leak. I think it will be a weakness in flashing, (we have one of those elsewhere)

Not on here outside temperature is 12.6 and inside is 20.6, we have a lovely sunny lounge which is a big bonus it has two large windows which capture any morning sun and good insulation keeps hold of it.
Why pay full price when you may get it YS ;)

My OH does this and it drives me crazy. I have pointed out to him several times that he can't complain until he is wearing at least two layers! He lit the fire the other day as well while I was out and then later on complained he was too hot. Will have to hide the matches!
