I have felt no need for the heating at all recently. DH put the heating on this morning when I was in the shower as he thought it was cold downstairs (in his t-shirt!) but I thought it was far too hot even though the thermostat is set at 17oc I promptly turned it back off again lol. Sometimes the lounge does feel cold when you first come downstairs but then once you are moving about making breakfast, packed lunches etc you soon warm up!

Popped to a friends house for coffee this afternoon and it was like sitting in an oven! Myself, DD2 and DS were all red faced and sweating buy the time we left! Was so nice to get into the fresh air I can tell you lol.

I still have a stinking cold so think I am feeling warmer than normal!

Well, our heating is now on! I have gone 9 days longer than i though i would so am happy with that. I have it on timer for 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour before bed (upstairs was 15 desgrees when i put the kids to bed last night so warming their rooms up before bed). If we need heat any other times we will use the electric fire in living room. Must remember to shut all the windows before heating comes on!!! :D

good luck to everyone needing to keep the heat off for whatever reasons you have (but please try to keep well) and I will see you all next year! :D

Its entirely up to you about not putting the heating if your happy without, but I think -10 is much too cold, last year was one of the coldest winters so if you only had your heating on for 10 days you either done well or like you say you are crazy.....Im all for saving a bit on heating too, but I wont let my health suffer due to it, plus your home itself needs a bit of warmth......but if your happy then go for it...........:DIts been mild here overnight and is suppose to be 15 degrees today and all of this week, so thats good for a lot of us not too have the heating on for hours on end............Like the other poster said we may get to Dec 1 before it really turns cold and frosty , its definately warm here in East Anglia..............I dont really think its fair though to have a penallty system at work for sickness days off cos people do get genuinly sick whatever, like you are at the moment and then you come home to a cold house, some bosses cant get enough out of the staff can they .?....
Don't let your health be a martyr to MSE, surely MSE is not about 'Save money and let your health and or dignity etc suffer'. Surely the spirit of MSE is to promote health wellbeing style etc in MSE ways?
I would switch it on, eat low cost healthy tasty diet and get healthy.
your employer sounds like a swearword. He/She /It sounds most suspicous of their employees. If your heating is coming between you and your health SWITCH IT ON.:beer: Good health is more MSE than ill health. Or if ill health not making it any worse.

  • My heating Radiators are not on but my Lakeland Drier Airer is on, same thing. 5p per hour? The Lakeland Heater Airer is notoriously efficient in heating my living room where I currently reside and the rest of the flat which is cold in winter, hot in summer, and making it an nice even temperature.

I finally caved and switched it on just after Bonfire Night. I had to, woke up to find all the windows in the house covered from top to bottom in condensation. I set the the thermostat low enough that it hasn't come on in the last couple of days though.

And the weather is just messing with my head now, I had to turn the desk fan on last night so I didn't get too hot while asleep!:rotfl:

The stat has just clicked on the heating so ours is now warming up the room nicely.

Another cold wet damp grey and drizzly day here today, we got absolutely soaked this morning when the woofaloes and i went to the park, i used two big towels and one small one when we got back.

Little oldie hasn`t been too good on his pins today so i`ve turned the stat up a bit to keep him warm and its now 19 inside and 9 outside.

I`m off for a nice hot shower to warm me up a bit shortly, i`ve been whizzing around the house busy for most of the day today but it doesn`t seem to have warmed me up like it usually does.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p
