Good point @Nelliegrace , burns from HWBs aren't uncommon either. A heated blanket at a low setting is a much better option.

@Rosa_Damascena - you are right about it feeling just like other days. It does. You have to really work hard to find activities to go to and there aren't any Christmas markets here. I do rather enjoy reading about all of the activities people get to go to here online. We just drive up to my sister's house, have a do-it-yourself sandwich lunch, and open presents, then drive home. The last couple of years I haven't been able to decorate many of my sister's trees (23 last year). That was usually my only activity getting ready for the holidays. This year we have a chime concert one day, a party for the Friends of the Library, and I am knitting up some decorations for the tree that should be cat resistant. The church I used to attend now has services in Vietnamese. May have to try the Mass across the street instead.

Notification of £100 heating allowance has arrived. Appreciated this year especially with unexpected serious health problems, but I shall continue to dress for the weather so as not to waste energy. I have invested in some vintage Guernsey wool jumpers, at a very good price after a patient search on eB, and my Christmas present is a super-warm, British made, pure wool and cashmere Weatherill duffle coat reduced from £895 to £99.99 from TKM. Getting some fresh air and a walk helps you to feel warmer indoors.

I have to agree, you woukd be better off spending the allowance on good quality warm clothing from a chazzer. £100 can easily be burnt heating the environment.
I have now moved to eating hot food, this seems to be making a difference. There are 142 days until BST and keeping warm is one way to weather the cold and dark.

I hope you are ok and your burn is not too serious. I am always dubious with those rice bags for that reason.
I have somehow caught my sons cold so I am feeling more than sorry for myself. Doing anything requires so much effort and not sleeping is proving a struggle. But the sweats are keeping me warm and Im currently sat in a strappy top in 10 degrees. I have been out and hung some washing on the line and have washed a mattress topper that Im hoping to hang out and get dried and then I might put it onto daughters bed under her sheet since its a double and our christmas gift to ourselves last year was a king size mattress.
Both kids seem to have found a new love of dressing gowns (son has a thin one and daughter a chunkier one) but she asked for a new one for christmas so I have added one to the list for each of them and a long oodie for husband (OHS seem to have some good offers on for them both too)
I think today I will have a look through the freezer and tomorrow make a soup loaded up with a load of stray veg and bits to use as a warmer when the weather starts dipping.
Time to find me again0
