still off here too :) although u can feel its defiantly getting colder now so lets hope we can go another week or more
  • Mostly off in the day time, set to standard program not auto on now. Thermostat down as low as poss as is the actual boiler setting. Water also set at 55 deg C and when it is real mild I have even shut the boiler off totally to save burning gas in pilot. OH says that's taking it too far, but so long as it is back up and running before he gets home, what's the problem. He has to wear a jumper and clothes now instead of being in undies, which is as it ought to be. I am certainly warm enough as I have been getting hot flushes with the med's I have to take for Myasthenia Gravis now. No cure but can be managed reasonably well for most of us rare blessed sufferers.
  • I'm a heating engineer and this winter season is definitely slower than last year. It is definitely milder this year - so far. My lounge is still at about 21/21.5C most times so our heating hasn't come on yet this year. I am so glad I super-insulated our house a few years ago.

I put it on for an hour when I got up at 7am.
We have the first frost of autumn here. Cars need scrapping etc.

    I've been Money Tipped!
this morning the house feels dry, and warm enough. Outside the cloud cover seems to have lifted temps and there is no wind, so we're also saved that.

My plan is not to light the woodbuner today....unless things change. My dad might be dropping in for a while, in which case I might well light it for him.

I find the dampness outside is reflected in side, in ''feel'' or temperature and condensation levels...this might be because of the cracks in the Wreck.

Schemeing Gypsy, you say you are getting heat from the pets but mine seem to create a ;lot of condensation too....and ''dogginess''. Right now I'm airing the room they use as a bedroom, by opening the french windows. Its been warm enough this year for my grey hound to not yet have needed her heat lamp or any coat, and thats fairly unusual in late october/november mornings...she's normally dressed at least in the morning.

We're still OK here. I put the gas fire on for half an hour last night after my bath as a 'treat' but it really wasn't needed, it just made the room feel cosy.

I still haven't bought a heater for London (there's no central heating there). But I'm off to California this weekend for a week and am a bit concerned that I might be in for a temperature shock when I get back, so I'm going to try and pick a heater up ready before I go. I've also brought my electric heated pad just in case.

  • Heating on this morning for first time. Freezing fog and frost outside. House was chilly so heating came on for hour and a half this morning and will come on again this evening. I think if it gets mild at all then it will go off again.
Built up quite a large credit so don't feel worried about putting heating on. Also feel quite good to the fact we have put heating on a whole 3 weeks later than last year!

    Keep warm all:A
  • Heating not on auto, have flicked on for an hour last night and again this morning when I got up. I can tell where the cold air is coming in now...where there's condensation. Front door keyhole, middle part of letterbox and some trickle vents (those on window frames, not brink vents)....hubby won't let me tape these up, says we need some air  what about opening windows as and when he wants air, I cry.grrrr.
