well, my wood burner is on again. I have a sore throat and don't want to get ill.
Last year I had cold after cold and at least one dose of flu, possibly two ...or some bad times food poisoning with a nasty cold! I've lived in cold houses before, so I think it was just bad luck and possibly being rather run down. I think I might start taking a daily multi vitamin (as the gp suggestted last year) along with my other pills and potions this winter. Either that or a nightly hot toddy!0 -
It's off, but expecting DH to put the gas fire/ch on before long.

On.... I set the thermostat earlier (after the house feeling really damp the past couple of days) and thought I'd see what happens - you guessed it!
Not too unhappy - we are into November after all!:D
Will set the timer for a couple of hours in the evenings but don't think I need it in the morning yet - however, that may change really soon as it's only 4 deg out at the moment and think Jack may be visiting tonight!Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Solution to feeling cold - go out for a brisk walk with the dog and when you come in you feel really warm and the house certainly doesn't feel as chilly as it did before you went out. Worked for me. x0

I did just that this afternoon and it does work.
But its since gone dark and really cold out already (its a very clear night) so I've relented and put the heating on for an hour on timer. I've also had a nice hot bath and feel nice and toasty now!0 -
DH has just put ours on. I'll switch it off after Downton Abbey though!0

Still 20c on room thermostat so our heating is still off until it gets below 19c. It was cold this afternoon but seems to have warmed up this evening so we are not uncomfortable.Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0

Off here, its still quite mild, sitting in a t-shirt and fleece, with joggers, and nice and toasty, as soon as we start to get cold I will put it on, but atm its very comfortable, rather the money was in my account than the energy companies :T0

I have had the heating on for a bit over the weekend as I had DD3 and husband staying, but its not been on today as I had to work and DD3 went home this am. I only turn it on when really chilly and damp, but this time last year I had it on 24/7 how circumstances change in a year, but I feel better for it, I havnt had a cold when most of the family and people at work have been suffering.£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund0
