Is your heating ON or OFF?

I did succumb this morning and put the heating on for about an hour as it was so cold when I got up. I switched it off about 30 mins before I went out, and have not switched it back on.
Am just off to fill my hottie and put it in the bed. I got quite cold during last night. My bed is alongside the outside wall, and it (the wall) felt really, really cold to the touch. My DH and I changed to twin beds when his illness got bad, as it did mean I got a bit better night's sleep. They are lovely comfortable beds, so I don't regret it, but I think when I change the sheets etc next week I'm going to move into what was DH's bed, alongside the opposite (internal) wall. (He is in a nursing home now).
Anyway, last night I put on an extra blanket, then was nice and snug!Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!0 -

our heating is still off. Thats not a conscious decision however, its been off since may, due to the fact that it broke down and we havent the money to have it replaced. I even saw my breath on the stairs yesterday at 5pm! I think its gonna be a long cold winter here. On the plus side my mum lets me use her shower to wash my hair once a week, and boy do I appreciate it. Our shower is a large plastic box, kettle of water, add cold water to taste and use a jug to pour water over self. Its easy -ish if you arent washing very long hair, but a nightmare with my extra long hair.August 2009 grocery challenge £172.64/,,,,,

I really do know how you feel, but, thank good ness, we still have an immersion heater for water. We don't have a shower, so I wash my hair in the bath, but we have no vent axia or extractor in the bathroom, so my steamy water gets cold quickly and I have to get out into a freezing bathroom with a window open wide:o
Our boiler worked, albeit inefficiently, but gave up the ghost in jan/feb I think...when is started leaking very heavily and we were told it couldn't be svaed. TBH, with the price of oil atm and the inefficiency of the old boiler not sure we would have been able to justify it much anyway. We had hoped to get a new boiler in this year but events and finances conspired against us, and the quote for the new system was HUGE (we are going wood fuelled because its something we have, can have more of and not be reliant on oil prices) but the initial cost is much greater.0 -

Ohhhhh pudding (((hugs))) I think I could just about manage if the heating went as I can get by in a pretty cold house (last one regularly got down to 4 deg:eek: in the winter).
I couldn't survive without hot water too tho':(. I get really cold sometimes (down to poor circulation and nothing to do with the temp of the house at all - it can be 30 deg and I'll still be frozen) and find that the only thing that defrosts me is a hot bath ...Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

The stat is on but the heating itself hasn`t clicked on for a while, it did earlier though so its now a comfortable 18 degrees inside and 9 outside, it went down to 3 last night and still feels super chilly outside but the sun is streaming through the window so its bright ad cheerful for a change.
I`ve been bitting and batting in the garden earlier and had to keep moving to keep warm.
Pudding - i really feel for you, hope that something gets sorted out for you soon ((HUGS))

I really agree, the cold house ok, so long as there is hot water to clean yourself with, to defrost and to clean the house with.
That said, I have to admit going I think about a fortnight (I work from home so I offended no one) with no bath last year. Our loo froze up and I was worried about the state of general pipes etc, so stuck to a very swift strip wash with a bowl of hot water. Um, that was when we had a central heating boiler too!0 -
I have but on the basis that I pay enough rent for this place that the first sign of cold it's going on. I pay for my bills included in rent0

Mine is still off, which I am pleased about considering I said I would hold out until november. I'm going to test it this evening though to make sure it is working properly (first winter in this house so want to make sure it works!)A Bag A Month Challenge member0

Got my dehumidifier out of the garage today and noticed it had a clothes drying setting. Lost the instruction manual and wondered if anyone knew how efficient it was and whether it was cheap to run on that setting or should I just use the tumbler? I dry outside for as long as possible but have no airing cupboard. If anyone has a Delhonghi cd65 manual could they look up how to use the clothes drying setting for me please. Thanks0
