Is your heating ON or OFF?

It may be worth getting a small heater now before the cold weather, last year i went to buy one for someone else and they were out of stock in a lot of places, those that had them had put the prices up.
Ours is still off, its very warm here and i`ve still got all the windows open upstairs. The gizmo is reading 18 indoors and 13 outside which is very warm compared with the last couple of days at this time.
I shall light the candles later and put the dehumidifier on upstairs, that machine has really paid for itself several times over, if it broke i would definitely get another one.

Sunnyday, I'm seriously thinking about getting a dehumidifier, but am pretty clueless about themWould you mind telling me which one you have, as you're obviously very pleased with it?

I doubt last winter even when we had heating it got above 13 in much of the house....well, I know it was less, we had ice on the inside of the windows that didn't melt all day, but our pipes were fine.
Pipes freezing this year however, with no heating, ar emy biggest fear, because if it was that cold with admittedly meagre heating, this year could cause damage.

Hi Churchie
nice to "see" you
I have this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Delonghi-148110002-DeLonghi-Compact-Dehumidifier/dp/B000BP81DW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1320351643&sr=1-1
Its about 4 years old now and i paid around £85 for it at the time on offer, its absolutely great. We`re using it to help some new plaster dry and also to dry some joists out upstairs after a leak. I run it overnight in winter to help with the condensation and it helps to dry the washing too. Its such a good machine and i can`t recommend it enough.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Nice to see you too SD:D Thanks for that :A I want it mostly for the bedroom we dry washing in during bad weather. I never realised they could be so compact
I think I was imagining something much more intrusive, see I told you I was clueless. I've bookmarked the Amazon link, will check if it's cheaper anywhere else, if not my Amazon prime membership will have it winging it's way to me very soon

It's really, really mild today. I just can't believe it's November, there are still leaves on the trees and some are still green. I was sat in the sunshine in the garden this morning, it was lovely. Raining now though.
I wonder if it will end up being a mild and wet winter, like we used to have before we got all Arctic the last few years.
Wouldn't bother me, the gas bill will be pleasing.0 -
Yes mild and wet would be OK, keep the heating bills down, but could we have mild and dry instead please?:D;) Even my cold house (often colder inside than out) is fine without heating tonight, but it has come on once or twice in the mornings for a little while. The thermostat is set low, if it drops below that I want heatYou never get a second chance to make a first impression.0

Heating still off.
DS came to visit today - I noticed he'd put his jacket on in the house, so offered to put the CH on. But, he said he was happy as he was. He says it's a change from home, where his house-mate puts the heating on full blast and it's TOO hot!
I'm off to bed in a minute - hottie already in the bed with jim-jams wrapped round it!Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!0 -

ikwym kids never close back door or window and i'm really cold but when they are cold its ok for them to moan so now i'm getting my own back the timer is set for 2 hours a day and at low temp so if it's not cold enough then heating won't turn on hehe
if they can go out with no coat after dark then i cant see how house can be cold if it was just me i wouldn't have the heating on yet except maybe once a week just to keep a check on it keep damp away and get washing dry i will wait for stuff to dryand will washit in plenty of time but kids they want it washed and dried in 30 mins flat2nd purse challenge no040£0 Sealed pot challenge ???? £2 trolley find not counting small coins till end year0 -
