We've got our heating on for one hour in the morning and one hour in the evening. I wish I had a real fire or a wood burning stove! It was really cold here yesterday afternoon and I was talking about putting heating on. DS1 and DS2 both said NO! Both under 10 so at least they are listening when I go on about not giving utility co extra money!Mortgage free in 2014 :beer:0

Oh no i hope not:eek:what a thought.0 -
Mine is off - well, we don't have any radiators or anything, we usually just have a little plug in heater for the bedroom and a fire in the living room. We have started lighting the fire but the heater broke last year and I'm holding off buying a new one till it gets a bit colder!0

No heating on here! Despite getting up at 4am to see son off to new job for 5am shift starts - kitchen is still areasonable 18 degrees at that hour. Thermostat (in unheated hall) is set to 15-16 and has been triggered once or twice. I let it run for an hour or so just to check there were no airlocks in the system.
I pull 2 sets of curtains on the bay window at 4 pm and if OH wants to watch TV in the living room he has a throw and a large cat to keep him warm!"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0 -

well, my hause as been colder than 15 already this year and no pipes freezing yet.
I doubt last winter even when we had heating it got above 13 in much of the house....well, I know it was less, we had ice on the inside of the windows that didn't melt all day, but our pipes were fine.
Pipes freezing this year however, with no heating, ar emy biggest fear, because if it was that cold with admittedly meagre heating, this year could cause damage.0 -

It may be worth getting a small heater now before the cold weather, last year i went to buy one for someone else and they were out of stock in a lot of places, those that had them had put the prices up.
Ours is still off, its very warm here and i`ve still got all the windows open upstairs. The gizmo is reading 18 indoors and 13 outside which is very warm compared with the last couple of days at this time.
I shall light the candles later and put the dehumidifier on upstairs, that machine has really paid for itself several times over, if it broke i would definitely get another one.

No way is my heating on yet - and i flew back from the caribbean last week.
its incredibly mild and my flat is still over 20 degrees. mind you were are well insulated and in london, where you only really need heating about 4 months a year if you are sensible and don't want your home heated to 25 degrees, as some do.
hoping to hold out for another week at least. it usually goes on in first or second week in november but no sign of cool weather yet.:j0
