  • I heard DH swapping to his winter dressing gown this morning. So we tested it to see if it would come on (v v v v old boiler) Yeah it did so we switched it off again. Will change to the winter quilt over the weekend but I'm hoping the new windows will mean I can wait abit longer before the heating comes on for the winter.

Had it on for 2 hours last night; I had been wearing my fleece dressing gown over my clothes, but didn't set it to come on this morning.

Not only did I grow up without central heating, when my children were little we had just 2 coal fires, and the memory of that hasn't made me hardier, just really grateful that someone invented central heating!

After coming back from holiday and it feels very cold, I put mine on the other day.

Not yet, but I've been cuddling the cat more over the last couple of days. :rotfl:
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

You can't turn the heating on till October! It's like the fact you can't wear tights until October, and after the end of April - breaks one of the fundamental laws of nature.

When I was a student, none of the houses I lived in had central heating. The first one had electric bar fires in the bedroom, which of course we couldn't afford to turn on, and a gas fire in the kitchen and in the living room, which we didn't use much either. Mind you, when the pipes froze and burst, right through the kitchen ceiling, we had to turn the fires on then...

Winter duvet on tonight but central heating not for a while yet, I think.

At 5 degrees I'd have blooming switched it on too!

I'm lucky because our house is a terraced house so we benefit from only having 2 real outer walls to loose heat through... infact the toastier the other two houses are the warmer mine is hehe.

The insulation in the house is also pretty good as it's not even 2 years old yet.

Me too! SOmetimes I've come home from work and been in a panic thinking I've left the heating on its been so warm! Its fantastic, especially as woman next doors house is like an oven!

When we moved into this house some 15yrs ago it was three winters before we could afford central heating. God was it cold!! I look back and don't know how I managed.

And to answer OP question, yes ours has been turned on.

Same here, I used to go to bed with a woolie hat on otherwise I would wake up with a headache from the cold!
