the last few nights i have been wearing a really thick jumper in the evening's, i have put an extra layer on our bed, and the kids have thick winter pj's and extra blankets on there beds. but hubby said this morning how nippy it is early in morning, so i am going to set the timer. but i do have heating on at mo , very low to just take chill off , as it has over the last hour got very cold. it was blue sky and sunny this morning

    Nope, not yet

Nipper was complaining last night that he was cold - my reponse was put a jumper on :D Although there are deffo nippy moments it just isn't cold enough for me to justify the heating being on yet - and I am praying it stays like that for a good long while.

We put ours on for an hour last night because DH wouldn't put on a jumper instead, and we've turned on the oil-filled bathroom rad which stays on through the winter (takes half a day to warm up, so no use installing a timer). I even put a nightshirt on and closed the bedroom window.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.
  • Last night and still on now. I am cold

I might try and work out the heating timer... hmmm task for tonight... put on 30 mins in the morning just before I get up so my towel is warm when I have had my shower :) AND so my breath doesn't freeze to my face again ;)

And maybe an hour in the evening at about 5:30... that should do me for the night :)

Just ordered a top up for the heating oil - 600 litres + the 400 we have should see us through till next year. If I remain in control of the thermostat ;) Altho I should probably worry when the tropical fish get ice forming in their tank I guess ;)

Got much better price for the oil by using boilerjuice :) over 2 pence per litre :) hey it all adds up and now it's getting colder the heating fuel price will rise again :(

  • I haven't put my central heating on yet - I refuse at the moment. I have put the gas fire on a couple of times though. I'm in debt with my gas bill from the summer months so I dread to think how I'm going to pay for the winter one. I have put a piggy bank next to the fire and each time I put it on I'm putting a pound into the piggy, I won't miss this money and hopefully it will help reduce my gas debt.

nope- not on here yet, and i also have a window open all day, and the front door!

i have been wrapping ds up well for bed, but he doesnt seem to be getting cold... and i have a handknitted blanket to snuggle up to on the sofa.

i also struggled to pay my bills over the summer, so am trying to hold off on the heating as long as possible, but to be honest i havent felt the need for it yet anyway.
