Was hoping to stick it out till November, but now I'm not so sure. Feeling a bit chilly today but that's probably just me being weak and feeble!4 May 20100

Hoping to hold out until half term, but did had a coal fire at the weekend. DD2 complained about the cold last night so she had an extra blanket.
Got the winter clothes out today so they can all put a jumper on if they moan!Just when I'm about to make ends meet, somebody moves the ends0 -
Just out of interest - how many of you have ever lived in a house without central heating? I am just wondering if those of us who can remember that don't feel the cold so early? I know that I am in the SE and that might make a difference, but I don't need a jumper during the day and I am not the most active of people - although I do go out and walk for half an hour first thing in the morning and that seems to keep me warm for a good part of the rest of the day.0

Can I very sheepishly admit that we actually only turned it off for the week of the heatwave .... (although it's only on for an hour in the morn and an hour in the evening) but we live right next to the beach and it's very cold (my dd2 went to school with hat, gloves and scarf this morning .... it was 5 degrees!)0

At 5 degrees I'd have blooming switched it on too!
I'm lucky because our house is a terraced house so we benefit from only having 2 real outer walls to loose heat through... infact the toastier the other two houses are the warmer mine is hehe.
The insulation in the house is also pretty good as it's not even 2 years old yet.DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

Haven't caved in yet with the heating, but have definitely noticed it getting dark earlier and feeling a nip in the air this week
. May put the winter duvet back on at the weekend, but I'm determined not to put the CH on until the clocks go back at the earliest.

Still feeling pretty warm to me and I have all the windows in the house and the back door open all day... Don't think I'll have need for the heating until November.0

When we moved into this house some 15yrs ago it was three winters before we could afford central heating. God was it cold!! I look back and don't know how I managed.
And to answer OP question, yes ours has been turned on.Rebel No 220 -
Haven't felt the need yet to put the heating on although I did put on a warmer jumper last night. I'm going through the hot flush stage so am incredibly hot most of the time, poor old OH will probably start to complain in a few weeks' time though!

Mine were looking chilly yesterday! (they're outside) Was hoping they could stay out another week or two, but I think they'll have to come in at the weekend. Currently, they're hiding in some old towels.
Had to put the electric fire on for a short blast at lunchtime though. Our living room is North-facing and we have patio doors and a floor-to ceiling window, which always makes it colder. Hmm, those thick curtains might yet get made!0
