Is your heating ON or OFF?

Mines cranked yp to 30%, and yes my heating costs have gone up, but nothing more miserable than sitiing in a cold house. Hate winter fuel costs, but happiness/warmth is more important.
Wrapped up in a short knitted dress, cardi, thick leggings, boots, but still gonna get myself a hot water bottle. I'm a wimp with cold.0 -
It's our first autumn/winter in our new flat (same-ish part of North London as before though), which has better insulation and carpets instead of bare floorboards, but only has sash windows.
Heating is not on yet, although we are wearing long sleeved tops to lounge in through the evenings, got a fleece blanket each on standby by the sofa, and I've taken a hot water bottle to bed the last two night (I enjoy the cosy warm feeling, and DH doesn't complain about my ice-cold feet :rotfl:)
I'm still amazed that we haven't even thought about having the heating on yet. We moved to this place in February, and had the heating on 2/3 times that month, and not at all since...In a better financial position than ever before (thank you MSE!). Moved back to Scotland and now trying to keep debt-free!0 -

Just curious; I'm down to around 16deg now but only got to the "put on a jumper" stage. Hoping to hold out as long as possible! My weakness is showering in a cold bathroom though...just can't cope :O
Often 12 deg at night. But that's where the thermostat is, the rest of the house is usually colder, especially the bedrooms and especially when the woodburners been on.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
My cut off is 18 as anything less than that and my old creaky decrepid bones start to ache. Although lately I've been doing multiple hotpacks and wrapping myself in a blanket if it's late and the heating has gone off on the timer.
Last year I would have just flicked the heating back on.
I honestly don't know how I managed as a child. We had a coal fire in one room and most days it wasn't lit till 4pm. The last shovel of slack went on at 9.30, I know this because the bloomin' fire was my job. Learned to chop wood at the age of 7, can you imagine that now? The axe was bigger than me!
Getting up in the morning was hard, frost on the inside of the windows and only a cold (freezing it was!!!!) tap to have a wash. Oh the old days were lovely(not!)0 -
Heating OFF here. Its windy but very sunny and the sun through the windows is warming the place up nicely. Mardatha heres hoping Wed morning they are knocking on the door at 8am to sort your heating out. I bet its Brrrrrrrrrrrrr at the moment for you.0

I take my DS to play school and most mornings we both arrive in T-shirts, while everyone else is in jumpers and coats.
Soft! The lot of you! :rotfl: (most of you)

We put ours on this morning for just a couple hours, to take the chill off. I suspect this will become the norm very quickly, as the house is freezing in the morning, but just an hour or two of heating on makes it tolerable for the rest of the day. I can live with that.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0
