Its off. Its still been warm during the day here but it was chilly last night , I cant abide being cold at night , so put on a pair of bed socks and a oversized sweatshirt over my pjs;). The boys and dd have thermal duvets on their beds already will get mine out tomorrow and put that onto my bed. Front room is still warm at night , havent even thought about putting the heating on in there. As for the kitchen having a range cooker that is on so much warms that through. Bathroom a bit chilly if have to get up through the night;). Havent started using the throws and stuff yet so they will be put into use before the heating is put on
Paul Walker , in my dreams;)
  • Heating is still turned off  bit chilly at times but never put it on before the 1st november... hubby counting down lol. But if I can get away with it will still be off after that

  • Its off here, even though we're right on the North East coast its realy pleasant.
Its been a beautiful weekend, fabulous in fact and the temperature in the house at the moment is 21c indoors so I can't complain at that, can I.
I would'nt mind a few more days of this.

Still off here... It felt rather chilly about an hour ago so the throw overs are on our laps and the candles are lit... Now its lovely and cosy. :) ... x

  • Forgot to shut the back door while I was putting washing out this morning so came back in to find the rads downstairs had kicked on low... Won't do that again in a hurry!

Took the boys to see bangerracing Saturday & slept over my parents afterwards, lovely & cosy in mums spare room, but chilly in the morning. Dad &DS2 watched the Grand Prix with dad snuggled up in his dressing gown & slippers, I made Ds2 put a jacket over his pjs, & sat there looking at the fire willing dad to light it ;-)

    I've been Money Tipped!
The type of boiler system that we have means that if you have the hot water on, you have to have the central heating on too.

The way around this of course is to go around the house and turn all of the radiators off.

I did ask a gas engineer about this a couple of years ago and he said there was no way around it.

Anyway, we had to get an engineer out the other day as a few of the radiator dials were either stuck or not working, I happened to mention the system to him.

We found out that you can have the water on without the radiators.

He showed me two wheels connected to the pipes up in the loft, one white and one red.

The white one turns off the water, the red the radiators.

We just go around in summer turning the radiators off but the fact that you can turn it off in the loft may be of use to anyone who wasn't aware.

The system in our old house was like that. It was annoying! I always had the radiators turned off too but we had one radiator which had to be on whenever the hot water was on and that was at the bottom of the stairs.

My feet are cold this morning despite having thick socks on - I am not putting the CH on though - just a fire in the evenings (and yes that is heating :P ) and thats more for the novelty of finally having one - TBH I could manage with nice PJs and a throw but its such a treat to have my fire :D
  • Mines off. I have a thermometer in the front room, and even with no heating its still reading 18.6 this morning.

When the cold hits this/next week it will probably go on - BUT even then its not on in the night.

It comes on at 5.00 to warm the house for 6 when we get up - then it goes off at 7. Kits leave for school just after 8. It comes back on again at 4 (though in the depths of winter thats normall brought forwards to 3) and goes off at 9.
