  • Temp was 0 this morning here, felt a bit chilly indoors, but once you got going it wasn't too bad, so still no heating on. Currently 12 degrees outside and 20 inside the house. Definitely aiming for November to turn the heating on. Got the washing dry too, even though the garden is north facing and mainly in the shade (so no use of the tumble drier still!)

Off and seeing as I have just had letter to say my fixed price tariff is about to come to an end and my bills will now have to go up by 42% (and extra to pay as was under paying before) will be staying off. Have looked into changing but not a lot cheaper elsewhere and as have to make up for underpayment I would have to find nearly 500 pounds before I could change anyway. Added to that just had expensive MOt bill for car it will be thick socks and jumpers for us for a while.
    Thoughts to all. Mrs D.

Central heating is off but open fire is lit so technically I have heating on - except its free wood I am burning :money: so at least I am not putting money in the pockets of the gas companies :T

Now that the living room is warm, it does make the rest of the house feel really chilly so although I hope to last until Nov... I may cave in before then.

Stayed in all day and pumped myself full of hot drinks, mostly water with lemon slices and a dash of red wine in it (;)). Heater on an off again now, but at longer intervals as I don't feel too cold today.

EDIT - the other day in Sainsburys clothing section I saw a luscious, fleecy, fluffy dressing gown for only £18. It's long, has a high collar that I can close well up around my neck and wraps me well and cosy. I got one size larger, so I can put it comfortably over jumper and thermal leggings of a wintry night. I plan on making it last for quite a few winters. :A
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

Still off but I have been watching QVC in bed, Liz Earle and Yankee candles fave items, so not needed to use any heating today.

My favourite items too Rainy. Lovely sunny day here with a slight nip in the air but managed to get a lot done windows, some weeding another washing, and cooked Sunday roast. Now relaxing in my long sleeved pj's and fluffy dressing gown...Bliss!!! All I need now is hubby to make me a cuppa. I've ordered my 2 cats warm cosy cave like beds for the bad weather they look great wish I could fit inside one :D anyway, I'm hoping they will take to them as they can be a bit fussy, bought them off Amazon yesterday. Heating off.
    I love this place :j:T:j
  • Still off here :) Feels chilly outside at night but still warm in the house, kids still kicking covers off and we still have the bedroom fan on at night.
We bought some thermal lined thick curtains for both the big bay windows at the front of the house in the summer sales and so far they are making a huge difference to the warmth in the rooms so happy with that :)
Aiming to hit november before putting it on but guess that depends on what the weather decides to do.We're going into winter in a fair bit of credit on the gas and electricity bills so would be nice to stay that way or break even by next year but will have a newborn in the house soon so need to keep him warm!:p

This was the first morning (at 6.30) that I've thought it was a bit nippy.

However, it has been nice all day and I'm sitting here now in a t-shirt and not having drawn the curtains and it is plenty warm enough.

    I hope you're feeling a bit better Q. :A

Another night where I had to put the heating off before 8pm. It goes on around 6pm. Usually at this time of year if i'm inside during the day I put it on for an hour or two but haven't felt the need. Usually by this time i'm freezing cold if the heating hasn't been on.

Did I mention we got the loft insulated a couple of weeks ago? Maybe I have, just the once or 5 times. :rotfl: It's just that I really can't believe the difference! Can't wait until OH comes home and he can feel the difference for himself. Our kitchen is usually really cold too as the radiator isn't big enough for the size of the kitchen, but it's not cold at all just now. I've just came from there and it's 21C!
  • Off! :-) bit chilly this evening so I've got the fleece out and have been snuggled on the sofa with one of my cats!
