How do you explain to visitors why your homes are cold and do you put some heating on if guests visit?
Im interested as I have just been ignoring the fact that it is off when someone comes.
We've had ours on for an hour tonight whilst the kids were getting sorted with bath and bed.
We've got the inlaws coming down in a few weeks and I will not be turning it on just because we have visitors, it will only be going on if its overly cold. I'll give them a slanket and an extra pair of socks! :rotfl:0 -
Mine is still OFF but I am cold tonight although not as cold as OH probably is as he is camping this weekend lol. I did feel guilty about not putting the heating on when DD woke up in the middle of the night last night complaining of being cold until I realised she only had her summer nightie on!!!! She's in her warm PJ's & fluffy socks tonight and I gave her a hot water bottle0

I have my mum coming to visit us tonight for a few days and my heating still won't be going on... I rung her this morning and reminded her to pack a few jumpers and a thick cardigan cos I'm not putting the heating on :rotfl:
I have told her that I am struggling with money and that I cannot afford to put £25 per week on my gas card I can only just afford to put £20 per week on my electric key.October grocery Challenge

I live in a shared house. I came back home at gone 11pm last night, everyone in their beds, the heating was on. They put it on between 10pm and 5am!! Needless to say I turned it off.
I'm hoping to keep it off as much as possible. Now I have new housemates, so will tell them to only put it on for few hours not the entire night when it gets colder!0 -

Baxk to temperatures, currently outside it is 13 degrees inside courtesy of the conservatory is 20 degrees hoping that it won't have to go on tonight though!
Lol, sounds like we have quite a bit in commonI`ll pm you shortly
Still off here, dull and drizzly today so there wont be any sun to warm us up shining through the window, i`ve hung the washing on an airer upstairs and i`ll keep moving it around to help it dry.
Inside temperature today is 17 degrees and outside its 13. Younger doglet is curled up like a davy crocketts hat and little oldie is stretched out on his bed. The cat is on a furry throw and all seem to be happy.
I`m off into the kitchen so will keep warm by bustling about in there
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
It was 16 inside this morning so for DD sake I put it on for an hour only, not happy that I have had to put it on already  I can see that I will probably have to put it on again for an hour tonight over bathtime not fair on her bless her. Once she's in bed I'll be happy with it off and my blanket watching Strictly0

Temp in house last night was 15 put heating on for about 10 minutes and to check it's working dust smell coming from radiators/boiler??? not sure as I dust radiators once in a while. I feel chilled to the bone today had to go out early this morning for hubby's flu jag we don't have a car got rid so we walked as we say it was that wet rain really fine and it was so cold:( I've just put heating on again for about 10 minutes as I was ironing and my hands felt numb temp inside was 15 again but now reading a comfortable 18. For the last 3 nights we've went to bed with the bathroom window open:eek: I went to bed with 2 hot water bottles, socks, jammies and the dressing gowns on top of what is supposed to be a 15 tog duvet
. The condensation problem is much better with window open overnight, they were dripping every morning. I've still to buy anti-mould paint for bathroom ceiling have sprayed it again with Dettol mould and mildew cleaner. Away to have a cuppa coffee, keep warm and snug x
I love this place :j:T:j0
