We don't have a thermostat and if the hot water is on then so is the heating, so have turned all the radiators right down. The heating had been off for 2 weeks, but it went on again yesterday as I'm working outside every evening and yesterday I got home cold and wet and couldn't handle a cold house on top. I'll keep it on until it warms up a bit again.

Mine never goes 'off', it's an optimiser type that merely changes the temperature setting according to the time of day or night.

Most days so far it's fired the heating briefly, usually for an hour or two each day, but only to reach the same room temperature that I found comfortable during the winter. I don't see that the time of year comes into it, I'm not going to be cold just because it's Spring!

When the house is above that temperature, it won't come on.

I've merged this with our existing "is your heating on or off!" thread

Mine is off, if I get cold, a hot water bottle, then jumper and blankets , but i will put it on if i get really really cold. :)

  • Just moved into my boyfriend's house, and he works outside so he has a totally different concept of comfortable warmth to me... the thermometer says 15 degrees and he's happy in a t-shirt. The heating has been off for a few weeks now... LUCKILY we have an open fire and endless free wood, and so I curl up next to that in about fifteen jumpers, and he has to go make the cups of tea in the cold kitchen. Also he goes up first to warm the bed, so I can't complain.

It is currently 19.4 degrees in my living room without any heating. It has been totally off for a couple of weeks now which is very early for us. think that my new windows are definitely making a difference.

I am in Scotland and most years don't have the heating off completely apart from July. There are always chilly evenings in June and August, and I am also very sedentary so get cold quickly. Bizzarely, when I am outside and moving around I am never cold. It needs to be 20 degrees in the house for me to be able to function these days.

its good to see this thread is still marching on! -i live in turkey where the heating this year has been constantly needed quite constantly during the evenings from mid december through til the end of March.--the bill has been constantly 20 pounds for my 4 bedroomed appartment-the electric doesnt change summer to winter at 20pm-my daughter has her small electric fire on as a supplement in her bedroom in the winter and the ac is on in the summer--prices are cheap because the Turkish government controls the purchase contracts of energy and stops profiterring suppliers holding the country to ransom!

We have just come back from our place in Turkey and it was cooler than normal for April, so had our electric heater on for a couple of hours at night. We very rarely have to use it when we are there between October and December, but it is so cheap. Most of our bills are between £8-12 for a couple of months.

Back here in the UK finding I still have to put it on for a couple of hours in the evening, as it seems chilly then. Still paying £65.00 p.m. for electric and £50.00 p.m. for gas, the quicker we get to Turkey permanently the better (and the cheaper).

its getting cheaper for residency permits too--so no need to keep nipping over to greece!

When maggie sold the 'silver' and we got all these profiteering energy suppliers someone had to suffer!-i only go home in summer so my bills there are negligable and we are on holiday so it is in the holiday budget!--summer here in my city home is unbearable so we recamp to our holiday place along the coast which negates the need for ac's--i hate going to the uk but my wife insists on my dose of changeable weather!-
İt is cold for April but i have learn that no 2 years are simular in Turkey-i believe last june it rained here but i was in the uk where it was sunny!
