Off, has been for weeks. I eeked it out over winter, trying to get the oil to last, then, just as it got warm our boiler sprang a leak and I had to run it while opening windows.
In italy where my dh is from you cannot have your heating on outside prescribed times (Not sure if that varies by area, but we were in Milan for a while and there is was October to beginning of april)
It was a bitter winter, but it was quite short. There have been warm spells for a while now, and while this week feels a shock to the system after last weeks heat (and it was hot here: we both got tans and a client of mine got sunburn) its not cold enough to worry where we are...unless one is ill or infirm.0 -
I have mine turned off in the day, but it is on at night low, and most of the radiators are turned down apart from the nursery. The nursery is a freezing room no matter what we do! Funny thing is our bedroom is so hot we have to sleep with our window open and our radiator is off!0

ours is off, but i turn it on for a bit just before the children have baths, my 2 yr old isn't fussed that much but my eldest two love really hot baths and notice the slight chill when they first get out.
we have our bedroom window open at nighttime , and the cool breeze in the morning is wonderful and also hearing the birds singing at half 5. i love it. shame it cool and grey here today.0 -
Ours has been off for about 2 weeks now, and yesterday the boiler went kerput again so that was decision made anyway!
We haven't got a timer so all through the winter the heating has been off from about 10pm at night until the next day. I dunno how I didn't freeze having a shower in the morning but it didn't seem to be that cold. I think it's cos it's quite a small house with thick solid stone walls so it really keeps the heat in. Else I'm just a hardened northener!
We're hoping not to have to put it back on until the autumn now because OH has lost his job so we're really trying to cut back0 -
My gas central-heating has been off for weeks now and I hope that I won't need to use it again until late autumn.
All over the winter I only ever had the living-room radiator on and the one in the bathroom was turned on when I drew a bath.
Because of extreme penury I could only have the heating on for about an hour or two in the evenings for the most part and even then I had the thermostat in the living-room set at 14 degrees. It was always a bit chilly but not unbearable and that was thanks to the thermal underwear and cozy fleeces. The bill when it was sent in early February came to an affordable £90 which was a huge relief.0 -
I am a hardy outdoorsy type, and I live alone, so there's things I can do to keep the heating bills down that perhaps people with families couldn't get away with. I haven't had my heating on for six weeks and it won't go on till November, and then only sparingly through the winter. I wear more clothes if I feel cold.
I have one bath a fortnight, the rest of the time I have a strip wash in the kitchen the old fashioned way, with one gas ring on for heat. I wear three teeshirts in the daytime and leave them on to go to bed in. Lucky that I don't sweat much and spend most of my time alone and outdoors. :rotfl:

I had mine on for a bit yesterday during the day, I had guests and it was really cold so that wasn't too bad. Apart from that though it hasn't been on for a week or two.
Once the LO is in bed I wear a thick dressing gown, during the day I wear a jumper/cardigan or dressing gown. We only moved in here the end of January so not sure how much it'll cost over winter but the house is very cold. Even at the weekend when it was 20 degrees it wasn't all that warm inside but I'm putting extra money into the gas meter every month so I can build up a little stash by the winter.Credit Card: £796 Left/£900 October 2011 :eek:Store Card: £100 October 2011

Mine is linked to programmable thermostat so it comes on when the temp in the house reaches a certain level at different times - it came on yest morning and for a wile in the eve too but it hadn't been on for a week or more before that.
I have ot set for 18 in the morning, that again for about the hour whehn the kids are getting bathed and to bed and 17 in the eves. If we feel chilly we have a coal fire in the living roomPeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

Our central heating goes on for half an hour in the morning before we get up, although now the weather is getting better we are just popping it on on colder days.
We have an electric heater that we plug in when we are cold in the living room, we've not needed it for a few weeks but it saves us heating the whole flat when we are both in one room! Our gas useage over the winter was much lower than last year, so it has been very useful.
I'm looking forward to the warmer weather, nothing beats waking up to a toasty, sun-heated bedroom!0
