Our heating is on - but only because our bathroom is downstairs, tacked* on to the back of the house and is brrrrrr cold, so our heating comes on for 30 mins morn and night to warm up the room for ablution purposes!!

Our new bathroom is being put in soon upstairs and the cold room downstairs is being turned into a downstairs WC and a utility room... Roll on delivery day I say!

*It is attached to the house, but is only single skin bricks and NO insulation.... brr

We had the gas fire on a few times during the first week of September because it was so damp. I find the wet makes things much colder. However once that lovely high pressure kicked in, we've not had it on since. You definitely feel the difference now, even in the sun, but we're trying to hold out til November.

If we can manage it, we're going to skip the central heating all together this Winter and just use the gas fire in the front (which I've recently been told is just as costly to run as the c/h....I'm looking for more info on that) in the evenings.

Its the 21st century people. No heating at all isn't nor should it be an option. Its ridiculous now.

my dh and I are still warm without ch in s wales. Mind you the back of the house is south facing and we have k glazing so the warmth comes in and stays in. Evening we shut the lounge door when the tv is on and there is enough warmth from the 36" lcd tv to keep the room comfortable

we just put another layer of clothes on if needed but I still feel comfy in my short sleeved cotton nightie when I am in bed
  • My heating is staying off as long as possible.I've taken to wearing extra layers and using throws on an evening. It's not like it's realy cold just chilly and we're on the North East coast.

Ours is still off! Me and my sister are off out this afternoon for socks, slipper socks and cardies. I put a hotwater bottle in my bed before I get in so it's nice and toasty. My feet get the coldest but the mass amount of socks should cure that.

And I have 1 dog and 3 cats that claim my bed at night when my boyfriend isnt over anyways so they're like little radiators!

Due to medical problems we have had to put ours on. With OH on a clincal trial drug which lowers his immune system we have to be extra vigilant to make sure he does not become ill so if it means putting heating on to keep the cold out then so be it, he is going today to see if he will benefit from flu jab tho so heating might go off if this covers hiim.

No. Our gas and electric bill just went up to £160 a month combined.

We have got blankets, and warm jumpers, courtesy of Ebay. We have the hallway radiator on low, and that is it.

I haven't used the drier in an age either - pain in the backside as it was great for getting kids uniforms dry (I have four school age, very messy, children)
Proud to be dealing with my debts :T
