I live in London, and we nearly put it on the night before last, but rushing round packing warmed us up, and yesterday morning took train to Devon - it's a different world ! As train headed west, the sun came out and anyone would think that it was Summer down here.:jAll Art is the transfiguration of the commonplace

I am starting to feel a bit cool (in East Anglia) but am determined that the heating is not going to go on in August - it is the principle of the thing!
but I am now wearing socks and slippers around the house instead of flipflops (bah) and sometimes putting on my sweater when in the house.0 -
I have been very lucky and had a new heating system installed last year, along with extra insulation throughout the house, and so far have not needed to put it on until at least October .If I feel a bit chilly I have a blanket that I knitted that I put over my feet in the sitting room. But if it really turns nippy I watch t.v or a DVD . in bed as I have a small television and DVD player in there . Last winter although I have a small electric fire in my sitiing room I only turned it on once throughout the whole of the winter. :j
I am a bit of a warm blooded person as well so that probably helps .My sis-in-law is always cold and even in the summer complains of feeling cold . I think a lot of it is due to your metabolism.
My DirectDebit to the gas folk is only £17.00 per month throughout the year, and my electric is £11.00. But I was brought up to be fairly frugal when it comes to heating and lighting (a W.W.2. child)and a hot water bottle on your lap with a blanket is a lot cheaper than a large heating bill. Thick woolly socks, and a flask of hot soup keep me warm on chilly winter nights.
I think I must just be too OS for my own good at times:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
havn't put th heating on yet but have had the gas fire on one bar for a couple of days and leave the airing cupboard door open to warm upstairs. itis amazing how a slow cooker takes the chill of the house though!0

I'm pleased others are of the same opinion as me, I have a relative (in mid 20s) who has had her heating on all the way through the summer, I was sat there last week 18 degrees outside and she's got the radiators on full whack and the door open, then moans she is skint. One day I might be more organised...........

heating on!!! not a hope it still August!! 2 months at least b4 i will consider it.
i have loads of laundered jumpers (just in case) and also live in a mid terrace house, it is only a matter of time b4 less hardy neighbours put their heating on and it comes through my walls,if it gets 2 hot i will have to open more windows.Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0
