Was on for an hour at 8am - thinking nearly time to press the boost on the oil burner again which goes for an hour and turns off again ....

Crikey, I wondered why the house was taking so long to warm up this morning. The heating has been on for a couple of hours and my hands are still really cold. I've just checked the outside temp and it's -12 at almost lunchtime:eek:
  • Off at the moment but thats because it's lovely and sunny and 2c outside.

Well if you work those figures out ,it works out about £21.00 per week for both gas and elec........

That dont sound too bad really....??? well perhaps im on my own with thinking that, if you had storage heating you would definately be looking at near on double that...........and if you had oil heating well I really dread to think how much it would cost.............

I bet oil users looking at your thread wish they got your bills to what a lot of them are having to pay for oil right now, plus theres no stopping how high the price will eventually get to.........I cannot believe the goverment have not stepped in to stop these crazy prices for heating.............and the weather forecast is very much the same for the rest of the week......

    Roll on spring I say.....:D

I think it's pretty bad! Considering I spend my life walking around
switching things off, and always keeping an eye on the clock when the heating's on. But yes, other forms of heating are more expensive, and it must be even more depressing for the users of those!

  • It was on the news that Merseyside had its lowest recorded temperature on Saturday night -17 at Crosby
Trying to hold off the heating apart from in the evening but its hard. Was on this morning for about an hour :)
The sun is out shining in the living room but it doesn't really contribute to the heat much at this time of the year, thank god its the shortest day tomorrow and the days will be getting longer again and the sun higher in the sky :)

It's a quarter past one and we've now climbed from -12 to -9.

Still feels cold despite the heating being on, so I suspect it'll be on all day.

still cold here and lots of snow which shows no sign of shifting. Am sitting here with my hot water bottle and 2 fleece blankets but hands very cold for typing. Have 1 bar of my superser on to keep the chill off as its very hard to find someone with gas at the mo but i can still just see my breath but it is an improvement compared to some days.
My mum was lucky to get oil delivered but they have put the price of oil up from 40p a litre to about 65p so her delivery will cost about £650:eek:. So the winter fuel payment wont help her much. She lives in an old large house and even with CH her house is still freezing. She also has a coal fire and a woodburner but it goes through fuel like fun. Never mind it wont last forever (fingers crossed). Hope everyone is well and warmish xx
