Heating on constantly on low but Hot water off :(

Called the plumber and he can come out today thankfully but having looked on the internet there's a good chance he'll need to order a part in :(

Stupid house is falling down around our ears
  • was 11 c in my front room this morning when i got up, put the heating on about 8.15 and is now switched off till about 2.30-3pm. its now 15c in front room so its taken all that time to get up to that heat
I will lose 2 stone by this summer!!!!!!
  • mine is the same, takes ages to heat and cools down to quickly

lazy day today in pj's dressing gown slippers socks etc so haven't got it on yet, kitchen will heat up nicely once i start cooking

might pop fan heaters on in front room, and move them to kids bedroom at 6, last few days have used so much gas wasn't long ago i had over 40 quid on it

    I pay £110 a month for oil:eek: Electricity is £80 a month:eek:

I at the moment pay £60 pm for oil and £80 pm for electricity.

I think though the oil will be increasing soon

We normally use a full 1000 ltr tank per year and the above price includes an annual boiler service. the water and heat comes on for an hour in the morning for getting up and then again ready for dh coming home from work

We do also have a coal fire and have 1 ton of coal and 1 ton of logs each winter as well.

The elctricity is in cr by at least £100 so instead of using the oil ch the boys have fan heaters in theri bedrooms which they put on if they are in there, makes more sense to use the credit than have to pay out extra for more oil by putting the ch on extra
    My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
    So we’re empty nesters.
    Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).

I've just worked out that in the last 11 weeks we've used £240 of gas+elec, which considering how careful we've been I find a bit depressing :(

I was very lucky and got a three year fixed deal with my supplier, they weren't the cheapest at the time so it was a bit of a gamble, luckily it paid off and I'm OK till april 2011.

I suppose it will be worse tho' when I come off it as the price will have risen so much it'll be an awful reality check.

I hope we don't continue to have harsh winters like the last two, we could do with a few mild wet winters, brollies and wellies cost a lot less than gas!

Well if you work those figures out ,it works out about £21.00 per week for both gas and elec........

That dont sound too bad really....??? well perhaps im on my own with thinking that, if you had storage heating you would definately be looking at near on double that...........and if you had oil heating well I really dread to think how much it would cost.............

I bet oil users looking at your thread wish they got your bills to what a lot of them are having to pay for oil right now, plus theres no stopping how high the price will eventually get to.........I cannot believe the goverment have not stepped in to stop these crazy prices for heating.............and the weather forecast is very much the same for the rest of the week......

    Roll on spring I say.....:D

We've got a fixed gas/elec deal till end of July i think so no problems this winter with higher bills. We seem to be using 2 units of gas a day at the moment which is around £2 a day so not to bad at all and that's with the heating set at 18c from 7.30am till 9.30pm plus 2 extra adults using hot water too.
