Heating is firmly on here now from 7.30am 10.00pm for the next three weeks as the inlaws are staying with us. Have it set for diffrent temps throughout the day and off overnight.
It's perfect timing anyway as the weather is turning cold again, but luckly we haven't had the snow here again yet.In Progress!!!0 -
Its so blasted cold I cant believe the bad weather as returned again so quick, we had a -6 here last night again, I had my big window open and just the quilt on but I still woke in the night too hot without heating,:eek: I think its my age with all the hot flushes raging through my body.......my husband says" god its cold in here tonight, " so I chucked another blanket on him while I was roasting away, yet during the day we have the heating on 21 and im comfortable, so its definately got to be " the hot flush middle age crisis." that im going through......who else is hot at -6 and no heating and no clothes while there asleep? :eek:0

Its hovered around zero today, heating actually went off but because I had a friends baby for the day I put the wood burner on to get the sitting room warm. I think I'm doing better with log consumption so maybe my ash bed is starting to make a difference
LOVE the idea of the eco fan, i think that might well find its way in this house!!0 -
I have been eyeing one of those up too LIR. Although I did talk to a guy who has them who didnt think they were worth their money. I am undecided and may treat myself in the New Year.
Are you leaving plenty of ash in then now rather than riddling every day? My little cottage has been flipping toast for the last couple of days but I suspect it may change this weekend0 -
Snowed in here again and hubby snowed out - hes in London and cant get home
Still the stove is belting it out and keeping me snuggly - I even slept on the sofa last night with just a wee fleece as it was still chucking out heat at 1am - didnt like to waste it:D0 -

I thought it might be useful if we all posted our weekly usage of gas, along with the type of house, to help those who are worried about the cost and therefore not putting the heating on... I was a bit suprised that I was using less than I thought.
2 bed 60s built semi with ancient, inefficient boiler (max 60% efficiency  )
Well insulated roof and cavity wall insulation, cold kitchen and Draughty, single glazed back door
Gas card meter (more exp than billed usage)
Heating on 24/7 but on low, also 24/7 hot water (I have found this to be most cost effective for my house)
£10-£15 per week (depending on weather. I suspect this will go up next week due to the cold front)0 -
mine was on earlier but now off, weve had snow today and its going to be worse tomorrow -6 tonight, can see me bringing the rabbit in tomorrow again till it eases off, water bottle keeps freezing
Mine is a 3 bed end of terrace house, (old house) no cavity walls but loft insulation, double glazed apart from back door in kitchen ,gch, i have the heating on in total about 5 hrs a day plus hot water an hr in morning and evening and gas cooker, i use between 4-5 units perday. That will go up the next 2 weeks with the kids at homeI will lose 2 stone by this summer!!!!!!0 -
