Ditto ours.

Just moved into new house on 28th October. We put our GCH on for an hour in the morning and again in the evenings for about 4 hours!!!! At temperature 20 - 25 degrees!!!
Myself & OH absolutely hate the cold & we have lived too long in student digs so we are enjoying this extra bit of luxury! Prefer to save money elsewhere, for now!Ladymac0 -
I have been without heating for 6 weeks as I have been having an extension. The heating has been put back into today and it is lovely. It was so cold putting the kids to bed without it.WIN £2008 in 2008 £1836.31 2009 wins - £91!!! 2010 wins in Oz $ 6170.... wins 2011 aprox $2000

I still haven't got all my heaters on, the landing and office went on last week, but after 3 days of my children leaving the front and back door wide open, I have turned them off again, I am skint enough without heating the outside of my house as well as the inside !.
Because my kids seem to need more sleep than ever in the winter, we all tend to go to bed at 9.00pm, so that elliminates the need to heat the house for part of the evening, then in the morning I am usually up at about 6.00am, I put a small fan heater on, on the landing so it is warm for them when they get out of bed.
There have been some pretty hard frosts here, so I can see me putting the lounge heater on fairly soon, but if I can hold out until British Gas do their final reading before I go to Powergen, that would be a bonus."Dogs come when they are called. Cats take a message and get back to you" :j :j0 -
Well I'm playing hard ball and we've yet to put the heating on, we did buy a couple of hot water bottles and have had the lounge open fire on. But actually its not that bad really.....0

rainbowrisin wrote:We lasted until Nov 1st, then I turned it on for an hour during bath time, as the bathroom is absolutely arctic at the best of times. We had it on for bathtime today, but have switched off as soon as littlies in bed, as they have lots of covers and I can just wrap up.
Am chuffed we got through October tho - am hoping we can get through Nov with an hour at tea / bath time and then perhaps an hour in the morning first thing if it gets desperately chilly - we're out a lot during the day, and i forsee lots of edjermacational trips to the library for information and free warmth during the run up to christmas:D
Well done to those who are still holding out.
I always pour the bath about 20 - 30 mins before the kids get in. Then the room is much warmer, because of the moisture in the air.0 -
bj-sailaway wrote:3 x 30p per day, doesn't that add up to about £27 per month? Plus any other gas you use. That sounds quite alot to me?
I haven't even considered the heating yet! It really isn't cold enough. We've ordered one of these things to make fire bricks out of your old newspapers. Anyone tried one?
We had one of these years ago. Are they still made or have you found a second-hand one? Its quite a lot of work but if you have the time and plenty of newspapers then go for it. You will also need the space to store these bricks as they take quite a while to dry out, before you can burn them. Kids will love helping you make these!
that's R dog that is0 -
It was that damned cold last night I was seriously considering switching on the heating, but it's still only August!!!!!
I'm pretty sure I didn't switch it on until November last year!“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
