Cold and damp here today, so the heating is on low. Have been brave and put a line of washing out in the hope that it will lighten a little. My feet are still freezing despite trainers and sox, might have to put my cosy slippers on to warm them through.
I hate winter when it's all dull and damp, quite like a bit of frost and a sprinkle of snow, last year though we all got a snow overdose I think!
I hate this dull damp weather as well Bluebag. At least with frost theres often winter sun.My heating is off i have loads candles burning and coal effect on fire on ,it cheers it up a bit.
Put it on for a hour this morning ,my Ds has moved home and he had the children overnight, thought i had better warm house for them ,not a good idea to send frozen children home.0 -

I am thinking about buying a tumble dryer as I seem to be putting the heating on purely to dry clothes at the moment which is a bit silly, but without it, things take days to dry.
Are there no launderettes near you or to and from work?
When I was growing uo we used to put the wet clothes in the shopping trolley and take it down the launderette to dry, done all my good reading back then. Now as an adult I still wouldn't put on a tumbler, right now I have clothes on an airer near the fire but believe me if there was such thing as a launderette Id be there ( no such thing here)

Still off here :T - nearly half way through November. 2 weeks extra than we were hoping for without heating is such a good thing. I keep thinking about how much money we must have saved by doing this.
Had hot water bottles in bed last night and my partner loved having them - I told him to put them under the covers before we got in to warm the bed and it worked wonders. Will be getting him to do that again tonight.
I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0 -
Ours is on low and but I am making sure its not staying on if its not required when it gets warm enough I turn it off rather than wait on the timer, as its so easy to forget about it and just wait for it to switch itself off. Have just read all my meters and since 5th October until today we have used £102, which is for electric and gas - so averages out at about £2.50 per day. At the moment we are £99 in credit but Will be reading it every week now so that hopefully we will get some of that back but more importantly we dont run up debt with it.
Will be investing in hot water bottles this week, and will crochet some covers for them - treated myself to a magazine this month (doesnt happen often too expensive £3.70!!!!!) and they were showing covered hot water bottles that sell at £45:eek: That could be a months direct debit for my electricEvery days a School day!0 -
The last couple of days wasn't too bad and I only put the heating on for about an hour in the evening. Today I was at home all day for a variety of reasons, and had the heating on and off on low as it's got a bit chillier. I want to save as much heating as I can so I shall feel free to "indulge" during the very cold days ahead - hopefully not too many.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0
