A warm wheat bag might be cosy for them and not as vulnerable to claws as a hot water bottle, old jumpers or a fleece blanket in their bed will help retain heat.
Keeping their sleeping area up off the floor will keep them out of draughts.
A cardboard box with the flaps left open is a bit more enclosed and keeps the warm in better.
OAP'S need a little nore TLC!0 -
I try to keep my heating off as much as possible but am also worried about my cat. She's very small so doesn't have much body heat. It's her first winter with me and as she has a tendancy to go through my next doors cat flap when I'm not at home, I don't want her going to live with the less-frugal neighbours!!0

Our cat comes complete with her own warm fur coat whatever the weather!
But I notice she loves curling up next to the laptop.... she even knows which is the right side to sit where the fan is!!!!0 -

their sleeping area IS our bed... we didn't get any choice in the matter :rotfl: The mother cat (I have a mummy and a son pair) have even taken to pushing me off my pillow and taking over the entire thing, so OH and I end up sharing his pillow. She stays on the pillow ALL NIGHT, and if I ever dare to try and claim it back, even a little bit, I am put in my place with a swipe of the claw!
The wheat bag idea is a great idea, I will try placing them in cardboard boxes... maybe we will get our bed back then. Thank you0 -

Ah yes, the making the money last on the meter challenge. Oh am I familiar with that. Very satisfying when you manage it though.
You may have a little extra stocked up on the meter for if it gets freezing later on.
Don't fret too much about the TD, with littlies you sometimes have to do what you have to do, and it keeps the atmosphere a bit drier which takes less heating.0 -
mines not on timed yet and have been lucky last few days havent needed it at all --
hoping to keep it like that for a few more days at least = or maybe the odd 30 min blast just to take chill off0 -
i had one day 'off' and last night back on as Mrs De came home with the lurgy--she blames me because i had it earlier in the week--i still have a cold but the worse has past--weather has warmed up a bit though so fingers crossed(and Mrs de feels better) so hopefully no heating.--be interesting to give this thread a numerical point by counting from the first Nov 2/5---2 days on in 5 days of November.mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0

If your cat is elderly and/or very thin then he would feel the cold more easily.I know someone with a very old cat -he's 21-and he has no fat on him.He sleeps either under the folded-down duvet or in his high-sided fleecy basket, which is on top of a cat-style electric blanket!
I don't really have any advice to add to what has already been said,I'm sure you're doing it already.I wouldn't feel bad about putting on the heating,if you feel it's appropriate!
Still mild here,13c just now.Heating still off and windows open.0 -
It's a lovely day here today so we should'nt need to put the heating on just yet.
We have'nt any cats now,all died of old age sadly but when we did they had the common sense to climb under the duvet, day or night to keep warm.
There's something lovely about having a cuddly furry "baby" climb into bed with you on a cold, windy night.
I think my old cat lived in our bed for the last year of her life, she was'nt little either she weighed just over a whopping 18lbs so took up a fair space :rotfl:.0
