Is your heating ON or OFF?

It's 12 degrees here, so another mild day. Apart from that one day a few weeks ago where it was 1 degree and we had the heating on for a couple of hours, we haven't used it.
We got as far as the 8th of November last year before needing to switch it on, and if this mild weather stays, we should hopefully, at least, manage that again this year:)
Re: cats. I personally would only put the heating on for them if they were either old and frail, ill, or as bald as a coot. If they're fairly healthy, fully furred and have somewhere comfy to sleep, then they should be fine.
My two aren't oldies, but they're not spring-chickens either (one is 14 and the other will be 14 at New Year) and they're both doing absolutely fine without heating:)0 -
heating off again but had to have it on for a while last night just couldn't get nothing to dry and i figured the heating might be the cheaper option as it warms the house as well as gets clothes dry i'm still reading my electric twice a day and i'm going to keep to this after the shock of 39 units, not sure what was the cause still trying to figure it out but what ever it is/was we are back down to a more realistic 14 in last 24 hours its a good figure for us and by checking meter more often it seems likely if we get a sudden increase again we will find the cause and either stop using what ever it was or be more care ful if use in future.
my thermometer says 20c indoors and only 12c outside probably explains why there is a cold draught going past me from the kitchen need to figure out where its coming from i've got to go out for a bit so i'm hoping when i get back 20c will feel nice and warm i've already got my thermals on have had them on for last week or so but i still feel cold going to layer up now before it gets any colder it's damp too be back later2nd purse challenge no040£0 Sealed pot challenge ???? £2 trolley find not counting small coins till end year0 -
I switched the heating back off a few days ago, I was waking up with a sweaty neck where we have the dogs on the bed...who needs a hot water bottle eh?
Dh has gone away for 10 days now, so I am all alone with the dogs, hoping to keep it switched off all that time to help with the gas bill. I have also gone around the house and turned off everything he left on! Grrr!:D
He works from home 24/7 so he gets cold while sitting at the computer all day, so the amount of washing will go down too as he puts layers on during the course of the day to keep warm before putting the heating on.
I caught up with the washing yesterday while the wind was whipping around outside, and managed to dry 3 loads with just a couple of thicker tshirts on the airer to finish off.:T I also gave the house a good breather and opened all the windows, the blinds were rattling a bit, but its lovely to freshen up.0 -

I agree with you.I forgot to say that I have a 9 year old cat,who is my no means skinny,so I wouldn't put the heating on for her alone. In the daytime she tends to sleep in her basket, which is by the sitting-room window, and gets the sun most of the day.She loves to curl up with me at night under the duvet.:)0 -
Been quite warm here today, had a bit of rain this arvo but even that didnt cool the air, so no heating on today, ive got 2 yorkies and I have warm fleecy rugs for them on the sofas , if they need them,my sitting rooms are south facing so its always warm when the sun comes out........ also theyve got my lovely warm bed at nights..........:D:D0

WE had no heating on here in the caravan last night, because we built a nest.
Towelling mattress cover, double duvet sideways over that, flannel fitted sheet over that, then for the top layer, double flannel flat sheet, double duvet and cover and fleece pillow slips.
Duvets are 10.5 tog.
We slept from 9.30pm until 9.15 am.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Got the front room gas fire on right now, turned on low, as it has been raining and the temperature is lower.
Anticipating another long kip as the park is closed to the public and is very quiet now.
Have a good evening everyone.

Still not on here yet, however I can feel the dampness in the house increasing over the last week
May put it on this weekend if it gets colder and damper. I'm not at the point of needing to put it on timed for the mornings yet unless it gets a lot colder, which the weather forecast is predictingfinal unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
Not on today, thinks thats 3 days in a row now. Weatherman says it's going to get colder over the weekend though. I'm hoping for some dry weather so I can get the school uniforms dried.
Well done if you havent had to put your heating on yet.
